Please join us for an evening of Catholic Devotions, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Benediction, Divine Praises and Prayer to Our Lady Undoer of Knots. Please come together with your community to enjoy this special evening of song and prayer. FULTON CATHOLIC PLANNING COMMITTEE Collaborative pastoral planning for the four parishes of Fulton County will commence next month. Planning for future ministerial and pastoral needs will entail a reduced weekend Mass Schedule to accommodate the eventual two priests serving those parishes, the possibility and extent of Faith Formation collaboration, pastoral care and RCIA coverage, looking into possible parish administration consolidation or assistance etc. As early as 2004 and throughout the Called to Be Church process these concepts were discussed by the members of the Local Catholic Community (the former LCC) consisting of the leadership and lay representatives of each Fulton County Parish. There was little need to pursue that agenda at that time. However, in the more than ten years since then, with declining Mass attendance and offertory in all the parishes, with a present need for a priest, the time to prepare for a more realistic future is upon our Catholic Community. Sister Monica Murphy, a sister of St. Joseph, has graciously agreed to be our Facilitator for the Fulton Catholic Planning Committee (FCPC). She will assist with the operation and flow of our meetings representing the Albany Diocese Pastoral Planning Office as a partner so that any consensus reached will be workable. The FCPC will meet on the Third Tuesday of the month beginning in October for a minimum of six but no more than eight months. We should have a consensus on a Pastoral Plan by the Spring of 2016 and implementation by the Fall of the same year. Meeting sites will be rotated among the four parishes. There are three lay representatives from each of the four parishes on the FCPC. Each pastor will announce the names of the lay reps from his two parishes in the next week or two in their respective church bulletin or before the first meeting on Tuesday, October 20th, 6:30 P.M., at Holy Trinity Parish, Johnstown. Many Dioceses right here in the United States do not have enough priests and trained lay ministers to serve their parishes. These dioceses are known as home missions. They struggle to fund basic and essential pastoral works such as parish faith formation, seminarian and lay ministry training, and evangelization; Some are unable to attend to the needs that are unique to the communities they serve.
