Saturday at Holy Spirit AND First Wednesday of the Month following devotions, alternating monthly between the parishes. PASTOR S MESSAGE: 4th Sunday of Lent Repentance. Envy. Joy. Hope. Have you felt these human emotions? Today's Gospel offers a rich story, one we can all find our place in. As we reflect on our own spiritual lives this Lenten season, it can be helpful to imagine ourselves in the story of the Prodigal Son. "I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as you would treat one of your hired workers." The younger son has sinned greatly, betraying his father's trust and squandering his money in sin. Yet the parable turns on his deep repentance and humble return to his father. Is there any area of your life you have been wandering from God or you've squandered good gifts? This Lent, return to the sacrament of Confession! God, a merciful Father, waits for you there. "While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him." The father in the parable sees his son's selfishness, perhaps even suspects what he might do, but gives him the inheritance anyway. After his son's departure, the father waits with hope for his son's eventual return. Has someone you love left the Church, made poor decisions, or abused your trust? This Lent is a time to let go of bitterness and to live in hope. Prepare your heart to be merciful! Not all in the parable invite the mercy of God into their hearts. The self-righteous older brother dishonors his father with his pettiness. "My son, you are here with me always, everything I have is yours." Do you covet what others have? Do you feel as if you've been taken advantage of or that your work goes unseen? This Lent is a time to grow in gratitude. Take a close look at the blessings in our life that you might be missing. We are all called to repentance. Open your heart to God's personal invitation to growth! STATIONS OF THE CROSS will be held at Holy Spirit at 12:10 P.M. Friday afternoons and at Holy Trinity on Friday evenings during Lent at 5:30 P.M. in the Church. A lite soup supper and a movie will follow stations each week at Holy Trinity. SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH, Father Matt will lead a Lenten mini-retreat following the First Saturday Mass at 8:30 A.M. at Holy Trinity. The retreat will run from 9:30 A.M.-12:00 Noon. 4 CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Ann Simonson, Faith Formation Coordinator Fourth Sunday of Lent HOLY TRINITY PARISH FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Cindy Kollar, Faith Formation Coordinator FIRST COMMUNION LEARNING STATIONS will be held on Saturday, April 6th at Holy Trinity 9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. If you haven t already signed up, please do so as soon as possible. CONFIRMATION CLASS: Monday, March 25th 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. The classes will be held in Spirit Central. The parent portion will take place from 6:30 P.M.-8:00 P.M. TEEN MASS: Our next teen mass will he Sunday, March 31st at 6:00 P.M. at Holy Spirit. Grades 6-10 should attend the Mass. Grades 9-10 will have class following mass. All are invited. SUNDAY, APRIL 7th grades 6-10 will meet from 6:00 P.M.-7:15 P.M. to work on a service project for the elementary grades. This will take place of class time. RUMMAGE SALE SPONSORED BY THE SISTERS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: Friday, April 5th in the parish hall. 8:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. Please leave items for the sale in the hall on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, April 1st, 2nd and 3rd from 8:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. and on Thursday, April 4th until 11:00 A.M. CHOIR: Choir rehearsals for the Holy Thursday and Good Friday liturgies, which will be held this year at Holy Trinity, will be held on Fridays at 1:30 P.M. in the parish center on Glebe Street. Once again this year we had a wonderful turn out each week. Ms. Tracy Byrnes author of A Skunk's Tale will be our guest for the elementary Faith Formation Classes on Sunday, March 31st at 9:00 A.M. A Skunk s Tale is based off of a true story about five baby skunks that were living under the author s porch without a mother. It is an earthly story with spiritual meaning as Ms. Byrnes becomes the skunk s rescuer. The 3rd & 4th grade class mass has been rescheduled from March 24th to April 7th at 10:00 A.M. ADULT FAITH FORMATION: Holy Spirit meets on Tues. at 10:00 A.M. in the Café. Holy Trinity meets Tues. at 9:15 A.M. in the Parish Center. Please join us! 33 DAYS TO MORNING CONSECRATION TO JESUS. The program involves a short video and discussion period each week followed by some independent reading during the week. We will meet following Wednesday devotions from 3:45 P.M.-5:15 P.M. beginning in Gloversville in the Café. When devotions move to Johnstown in April, 33 Days will move to Johnstown in the meeting room. HOLY TRINITY ROSARY SOCIETY will begin taking pie orders on Sunday, March 24th April 10th. Pick up your pies on April 27th in the parish hall. The Rosary Society will meet April 2nd at 6:30 P.M. in the parish meeting room. EASTER FLOWER DONATIONS: Please place your donation in your flower envelope or a plain envelope with the name of the person you would like to remember and your name as you would like it to appear in the Easter Flower Booklet and drop it in the collection basket.
