On November 11th at the National Kateri Shrine, Fonda, NY, a special mass will be offered at 9:00 A.M. to remember all our loved ones who have died and to honor the men and women who fought this nation s wars and gave their lives for our freedom and peace. All Souls Day is the time when the Catholic Church remembers our deceased and supports those who have lost loved ones with prayer and community. Fr. Don and the Bereavement Committees of Holy Spirit and Holy Trinity Churches would like to invite you and your family to honor your loved one and other deceased members of our parishes who passed away this past year. Following Mass, there will be a light dinner reception at the Church of the Holy Spirit Hall. 4 CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Karen Hoose, Director of Faith Formation Thirty second Sunday in Ordinary Time HOLY TRINITY PARISH FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Cindy Kollar, Faith Formation Coordinator Faith Formation Classes Week of November 8th Youth Ministry Grades 6-10 Teen Mass at St. Francis Church in Northville 6:00 P.M. 7:30 P.M. Elementary and First Communion Grades K-5 Classes meet from 9:40 A.M.-10:45 A.M. There will be a meeting for parents of 9 th graders enrolled in our Youth Ministry Program on Sunday, November 15 th at 7:00 P.M.. The meeting will take place at Spirit Central. Safe Environment Training: Our Catholic tradition has always affirmed the dignity of the human person in the image and likeness of God. Every person with whom we come in contact deserves to be seen by us with the eyes of God. We know that ministry with children and youth, in particular, is a sacred trust. We at Holy Spirit Parish are committed to preserve, at all times and in all places, this sacred trust which is rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ. In 2002, the United States Bishops approved The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People in an effort to protect children and youth from sexual abuse at all levels of church life and to restore trust in a Church scarred by the scandal of clergy sexual abuse. Article 12 of the charter directs all dioceses to create programs and processes to teach children and youth about sexual abuse, lures used by predators, internet safety and its prevention. This year the save environment training will take place for grades K-5 on Sunday, November 15, The training will be presented by Karen Hoose. Grades 6-10 will be incorporated into their grade level retreats and will be presented by Ann Simonson and the Youth Ministry Team. The Retreat Team we will be having a meeting on Sunday, November 15 th at 11:30 A.M. (after mass) in the Faith Formation office. I invite any new high school juniors or seniors who are not already on the team to join us at this meeting. Monday, November 16th, Deacon Larry Groesbeck will offer a scripture study entitled The Beatitudes-One of the Keys to Christian Spirituality. This program will be held at 6:30 P.M. in the Spirit Café at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville. CEMETERY CLEAN-UP We will be closing both St. Anthony's and St. Patrick's Cemeteries on Nov. 15th. We ask that all decorations, flowers, etc., be removed from your cemetery lots in preparation of the winter months. Dumpsters are available at both cemeteries for your convenience for items you may want to discard. Because of insurance liabilities, there will be no access to the cemeteries during the winter months. Spring burial will start in April if the frost is no longer in the ground.
