In 2009, St. Patrick s Church was chosen as the single worship site for the Catholic community in the city of Johnstown. Our parish continues to honor and celebrate its immigrant past. It remains a strong and vital Catholic community: proclaiming Christ as Savior, celebrating Catholic faith, serving each other and the community, and educating its young in eternal truths. BAPTISMS: Call the office to arrange for baptisms. Preparation class is required for first-time parents. Baptisms are celebrated during Sunday Mass or privately. MARRIAGE: Contact the pastor at least 6 months prior to intended marriage. A preparation program is required. Receptions should not be scheduled before meeting with the pastor for the first time. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK: If you are planning to have surgery, you should ask one of the priests to celebrate the Sacrament of Anointing after one of our weekend or weekday Masses. Anyone who is seriously ill or confined to their home should call the office to arrange for the reception of this Sacrament of healing. CEMETERIES: Questions about purchasing a plot in these cemeteries should be directed to Jeannie Popp. MOTHER TERESA'S CLOSET: Emergency household and personal care items available at the parish office during business hours. Donations welcomed. DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT is available, free of charge, at the Parish Center for those in need.

Confirmation students will be selling tickets after all masses the weekends of January 4 th & 5 th and January 11 th & 12 th. The cost of the tickets will be $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 10. The proceeds of the breakfast will be donated to a charity to be determined. STEWARDSHIP: Due to the Christmas and New Year s Holiday the bulletin has to be submitted to the printer on an earlier schedule. M t 2:I b -2 Boy Scout Troop 104 Congratulations to Dennis Riley for becoming an Eagle Scout, and to the troop for completing a total of 291 hours of community Service for the month of November. The troop would like to welcome new Assistant Scout Master, Mark King to troop 104. The Scouting for Food Campaign raised 1,600 food items for the local food pantry. The troops three scout masters and fourteen scouts will be fundraising during the upcoming year to purchase a new trailer for the troop s use. THE JOHNSTOWN FOOD PANTRY AT ST. JOHN S CHURCH IS IN NEED OF FOOD DONATIONS: Just a reminder now that the snow is here. Please do not park in front of the walk ways that are cleared out from the sidewalk to the road. PARKING LOT: During the winter months, permission will only be granted to those who want to use the 205 Glebe Street parking lot for off street parking. The former St. Anthony s lot on Nicholas Street will not be plowed this year. Permission forms can be picked up in the Parish Office. If you would like to use the Glebe Street lot, you will need to complete a permission form and waiver at the Parish Office, 207 Glebe Street, Johnstown. Please note that if we do have a snow storm, all vehicles will need to be moved out of the lot by 6 a.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the lot needs to be open for parishioner parking. There will be no parking in the lot (other than parishioners attending church) on Saturdays 2 p.m. 6 p.m.; on Sundays 7 a.m. 2 p.m. The pantry continues to provide food for clients monthly and many local families in need. It is with your donations of non-perishable food items that we are able to continue to do so. At the present time our shelves are getting very low. Some items that we are especially in need of are peanut butter & jelly. Other needed items are cereal, canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, meals in can (stew, ravioli, spaghetti, etc.) or boxed dinners (hamburger/tuna helper, etc). Plastic and cans are preferable over glass jars. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon for anyone who is in need.

5 DIOCESAN & COMMUNITY NEWS: EPIPHANY OF THE LORD The Pastoral Care Ministry Office, Albany Diocesan Cemeteries is sponsoring Formation and Skill Building Workshops for anyone interested in volunteering as a visitor to the sick, elderly or home-bound, anyone currently involved in Pastoral Care Ministry as a Coordinator, Parish Visitor, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist or Faith Community Nurse. There will be six sessions on Thursdays starting January 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20, 27, 2014, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd, Latham, NY. The $40.00 fee includes the cost of the book and all hand-out material. This workshop is limited to the first 28 registrants. Attendance at all six sessions is required for a certificate. Matthew 26:40 Fulton-Montgomery Deanery Perpetual Adoration Chapel located at the Church of the Holy Spirit Gloversville. Regina Caeli Academy Accepting Applications for Albany, NY Campus for the Year Regina Caeli Academy is a resource center for home schoolers that uses a classical teaching model formed in the Catholic tradition. The program serves Pre-K-3-12th grade students. Students attend university style classes taught using the Socratic method two days per week and are home schooled the remaining days. RCA provides a highly structured environment to support the values of the Catholic faith taught in the home. We use the Mother of Divine Grace Classical Curriculum. Our mission is family-centered, grounded in the Magisterium, and devoted to excellence in classical education.
