WEDNESDAY EVENING DEVOTIONS: 7:00 P.M.-7:30 P.M. In February the Wednesday Evening Devotions will be at Holy Trinity with the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the presence of the exposed Blessed Sacrament. Prayer to Our Lady Undoer of Knots, Prayer for Vocations, Benediction, Divine Praise and closing prayer. PASTOR S MESSAGE: Feast of the Presentation of the Lord There is something about children that makes people smile. Their innocence, hopefulness, and amazing and amusing things they say and do bring out good qualities in people. Bring a child into a nursing home and watch people light up. Or walk into a store with a 2 year old and see people smile. Or watch when a dad carries a toddler on his shoulders and even people driving by smile. Simeon must have smiled at Jesus. He saw more than just an infant smiling and proud parents. He knew he looked upon the hope and promise of Israel. He saw his "heir apparent," the priest, prophet and king who would bring the message of salvation to the world. Simeon no doubt smiled as he gazed upon the infant so many had longed to see. Joy is a very important part of faith. Knowing the Lord and sharing in His life should bring us a sense of joyfulness and peace, if we really believe in the promises of Jesus. Too often people leave Church the same way they leave root canal! 4 CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Karen Hoose, Director of Faith Formation Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time HOLY TRINITY PARISH FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Cindy Kollar, Faith Formation Coordinator Sunday, January 29th the Confirmation Class of Holy Trinity and Holy Spirit Churches will sponsor a Pancake Breakfast in the Holy Trinity Parish Hall. They will be serving from 8:30 A.M.-11:30 A.M. The cost is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 children under 10. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity. SACRAMENTAL: Members of our young churches of Holy Spirit and Holy Trinity received the experience of God s love and forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday, January 21 st. They are: Ian Curley, Julia Gillis, Kason Kindar, Lia Leon, Grace Malpass, Isabella Murphy, Angel Perez, Fernando Perez, Lisdy Perez, Justin Vickery, Makenna Bush, Josephine Eaton, Addison Fazzio, Chloe Hopkins, David Jarabek, Brody Keesler, Madelyn Kraemer, Peyton Nigro, Miles Rocklin, Lola Stefic and Andrew Walton. Faith Formation Classes Week of January 29: Grades 6-8 will meet from 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Spirit Central. Grades 9-10 will meet from 7:15 P.M.-8:15 P.M. Elementary and First Communion Grades K-5 Classes meet from 10:15 A.M.-11:15 A.M. Save the Date! Sunday, February 12th Café Chocolat will once again be coming to our faith community. It is a fundraiser for our Emmaus Retreat. It will be held in the Holy Spirit Parish Hall from 11 A.M to 2 P.M. Tickets are $5.00 and will buy you 10 homemade, mouth watering chocolate cookies, candies and desserts. There will also be baskets to raffle. There will be an insert in the bulletin if you would like to sign up to bake your favorite chocolate recipe The Gloversville Knights of Columbus is hosting a basketball free throw contest for boys and girls ages 9-14 on Sunday, January 29th at Gloversville High School. Registration begins at 2:30 P.M. The Contest starts at 3:00 P.M. SATURDAY NIGHT BINGO AT HOLY SPIRIT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY! The summer of 2017 we will need a coordinator for the Vacation Bible School. Rev. Brian Dykema from the Johnstown Reformed Church is reaching out to churches and parents to ask if there is anyone who would consider helping to organize the VBS for this summer. There are many volunteers who are willing to teach, provide snacks, help lead worship and play games. The responsibility of the coordinator is developing a theme and planning and organizing the volunteers. Please contact Rev. Dykema at brian.49@juno.com if you are interested. This group is not a part of the Holy Trinity Rosary Society. We are a group of men and women who have come together to pray for our country to Our Lady of Fatima and to follow her Children s bulletin this week deals with The Beatitudes. Please take a few minutes to share the activities with your children. These bulletins are available at the entrances of Holy Trinity Church.
