DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY The Lord said to St. Faustina Paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You. I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel, and [then] throughout the world. I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over its enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own Glory. When I told this to my confessor, I received this for a reply: That refers to your soul. He told me, Certainly, paint God s image in your soul. When I came out of the confessional, I again heard words such as these: My image already is in your soul. I desire that there be a Feast of Mercy. I want this image, which you will paint with a brush, to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter; that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy. I desire that priests proclaim this great mercy of Mine towards souls of sinners. Let the sinner not be afraid to approach Me. The flames of mercy are burning Me clamoring to be spent; I want to put them out upon these souls. Jesus complained to me in these words, Distrust on the part of souls is tearing at My insides. The distrust of a chosen soul causes Me even greater pain; despite My inexhaustible love for them they do not trust Me. Even My death is not enough for them. Woe to the soul that abuses these [gifts]. The Salvation Army needs your help! The CORP, located at 10 Spring St. in Gloversville, is asking for volunteers to act as administrative support, help stock, manage the food pantry, cook and serve meals in the soup kitchen. 4 CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Karen Hoose, Director of Faith Formation Sunday of Divine Mercy HOLY TRINITY PARISH FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Cindy Kollar, Faith Formation Coordinator The next teen mass will be celebrated on Sunday, April 10th at 6:00 P.M. at St. Joseph s Church, Broadalbin. The teens from Holy Trinity will attend their regularly scheduled class time (9:00 A.M.) Welcome to the Family On Saturday, March 26 at the Easter Vigil the following adult baptized Catholic completed her Sacraments of Initiation through the reception of Confirmation: Patricia Anne Quigley. Adults baptized in other Christian Faiths who were welcomed into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation: Jennifer Mae Wittemeyer. Baptized Catholic who received First Eucharist and will receive his Confirmation by Bishop Scharfenberger in May: Jared Fagan. We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to nurture their faith as they continue their journey into a deeper and abiding relationship with Jesus. Mothers of Faith in Action is a group of moms (and dads) who are dedicated to building community through Faith Formation and Youth Ministry within the Church of the Holy Spirit. They meet on Sunday mornings in the Spirit Central Café while their children are in Faith Formation. They would like to invite other parents to join them for coffee, refreshments, relax, read a book or get to know other parents. Some of the upcoming events that the MOFIA is planning include: Sunday, April 3 rd, 9:15 A.M 12:15 P.M. Bake Sale in the breezeway of the school/parish hall. If you have any questions or ideas please Karen Hoose at khoose@frontiernet.net Youth Ministry Event tonight: The students in Youth Ministry (Grades 6-10) are very fortunate to have an opportunity to make a pilgrimage to one of the Year of Mercy Holy Doors which is located at St. Stanislaus Church in Amsterdam. On April 3, which is Divine Mercy Sunday, our Youth Ministry classes, as well as any family members, have been invited to go through the Holy Doors and hear a presentation by Daniel O Connor, founder of the Divine Will Missionaries of Mercy. We will be joining the Junior and Senior High School students from Amsterdam for this special evening. Sisters of the Holy Spirit will meet on Monday, April 4th at 6:00 P.M. in the parish hall. Sunday, April 3 rd will be a retreat for all teens in 7 th and 8 th grades. The retreat will begin at the 10:30 A.M. mass and concludes at 2:00 P.M. in the parish hall. This retreat replaces the regularly scheduled class for April 3 rd therefore they do not have to attend class at 9:00 A.M. Please return your permission slip prior to Monday, March 28 th. Sunday, April 3 rd the First Communion class will be presented to the parish community at the 10:30 A.M. mass. Please keep these children in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time on Sunday May 15 th at the 10:30 A.M. mass. We will also be having a parent meeting on April 3 rd at 9:30 A.M. in the parish hall for all those who have a child receiving First Communion. Sunday, April 10 th J. Gerard McAuliffe will be giving a presentation of his trip to the Holy Land for all teens in grades 7-10 at 9:15 A.M. in the parish hall. We invite any parents or parishioners who would like to hear this presentation to join us. OPERATION RICE BOWL donations should be returned as soon as possible by placing them in collection basket on the weekend or drop them off at the parish MOTHER TERESA S CLOSET: We are looking for volunteers to work on Wednesdays during distribution of products from 9:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M. The hours are flexible so if you can t work the full time that s okay, even an hour of your time will help! Summer will be here soon, Youth Ministry and college students are welcome to help out too!
