In March the Wednesday Devotions will be at Holy Spirit with the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the presence of the exposed Blessed Sacrament. Prayer MASS SCHEDULE Saturday: 4:00 P.M. at Holy Spirit Sunday: 8:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity PASTOR S MESSAGE: "When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid." Peter, James, and John already knew Jesus. They had been following him, learning from him, watching him for quite some time. But what took place before their eyes at the Transfiguration was unlike anything they had yet witnessed. This was not just a miracle or a message: this was a supernatural vision. When Jesus' face suddenly "shone like the sun" and two ancient prophets appeared and spoke, and a heavenly voice announced the true identity of their friend and teacher, these three disciples nearly fainted in fear. It must have been too glorious, too strange, too astonishing to handle. Jesus "came and touched them" to rouse them from their prostration. He told them, "Rise, and do not be afraid." What a beautiful moment. The Lord realized that his friends were overwhelmed. He had compassion on their meager ability to comprehend what was really going on. He allowed them to participate in this moment of revelation to help them understand who he was, but he still understood who THEY were, imperfect human beings who could not be expected to completely understand the ways of God. Sometimes we might long to witness a kind of Transfiguration moment. It can be tempting to think that if we had access to such a supernatural revelation, our faith would be strengthened and our lives would change. But Jesus knows us best. NEW VESTMENTS AND STOLES Last January we purchased new vestments and stoles for Holy Trinity Parish. The cost of this purchase amounted to $3, In addition to previous donations, we recently received donations from the Holy Trinity Rosary Society for $500.00, from John Schwartz in memory of his daughter, Krissy Schwartz in the amount of $ and from the Holy Trinity Men s Group for $2, Because of the generosity of all the donors, we have recapped all but $ of this purchase. LIFE ISSUES The N.Y.S. legislature is currently considering two bills which should be of concern to all Catholics. The Medical Aid in Dying Act 2017 (Assembly bill A 2383; Senate bill 3151) will allow doctors to order medications to assist the ill to terminate their lives. They are also considering a bill tor a tuition tax credit for families of children in private/parochial schools. Please contact your representatives to voice your opinions on these topics. 4 CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Karen Hoose, Director of Faith Formation Second Sunday of Lent HOLY TRINITY PARISH FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Cindy Kollar, Faith Formation Coordinator Our next "Teen Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, March 12th at 6:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity Church in Johnstown. Paul Whitney and some of our teens will be providing music and serving in all of the ministries for this Mass. This Mass will be held in collaboration with all the churches in Fulton County and their Youth Ministry students will attend also. Carpooling will be available. Please contact Ann Simonson at if you need a ride. As always this is a regular parish Mass and ALL are welcome! Faith Formation Classes Week of March 12 th : Youth Ministry, Grades 6-10: Teen Mass at Holy Trinity Church at 6:00 P.M. Elementary and First Communion, Grades K-5: Classes meet from 9:40 A.M.-10:45 A.M. Faith Formation Classes Week of March 19 th : There will be NO Faith Formation classes next weekend. THE CLOSING OF THE EMMAUS RETREAT will take place in the church next Sunday, March 19th at 5:30 P.M. They will be discussing Traumatic Brain Injury. The business meeting will begin at 2:00 P.M. with the speakers to follow. Refreshments will be served. All members are requested to attend.
