June Holy Trinity ~ July 5th Holy Spirit PASTOR S MESSAGE: FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER "Whoever believes in me will do the works that I do." What were the works that Jesus did? Miracles, sometimes, but what were the essence of these miracles? Caring for the sick, comforting the sorrowful, feeding the hungry... much of Jesus' ministry was spent in carrying out what we call the works of mercy. But he did more than that; he also preached and publicly shared the good news, he fostered fellowship and community, and he prayed. All of this makes a kind of plan of action for us as Christians. As Jesus says today, if we truly believe in him, we will follow in his footsteps and do these same things. What this all suggests is that belief itself having faith, being Christian is only part of the picture. Jesus expects us to take this faith and put it into concrete, practical action. Apparently this goes hand in hand with real faith. If actions don't follow, then faith is not being lived to its fullest. This of course presents a real challenge. Our lives are busy and our plates are full, just with the tasks and demands of daily existence. It can seem like a burden to serve others, to share the Gospel, to be actively involved in a faith community, to find time to pray. But these are meant to be priorities for true disciples of Christ. And as many will testify, when we sincerely ask God to help us get our priorities in order, he has a way of miraculously multiplying our time. Somehow, we find the opportunities right before us to follow God's will and bring our faith to life. That simple prayer of asking for help may be where we need to start. The first step is not so much to fill our calendar as to fill our hearts, or just to pray that God will fill our hearts, with the desire to "do the works" of Jesus. May 25th is Ascension Thursday. Please be very careful when entering or exiting the parking lot to avoid any accidents until the street is reopened. HELPERS COMMUNITY STORE: The Helpers store is fulfilling Viola s mission. We are open six days a week and supplying the need for carefully worn clothing and gently used household items. However, we do need more volunteers to work in the store. If you can spare a few hours a week, call Richard Crane at It is much more fun than you can imagine. We could use more household items. What we have is jumping off the shelves! Adoration of Our Lord The Lord is close at hand; come, let us worship Him. Perpetual Adoration Fulton Montgomery Deanery. Look for us on Facebook. Reminder! Please check the lost and found box in the church at Holy Trinity. We are gathering many lost items from the church pews. MOTHER TERESA S CLOSET: The Outreach Committee would like to thank the Helpers Community Store for the very generous donation. We are currently in need of the following items to replenish our closet: tooth paste & brushes, toilet paper, paper towels, bar soap, tissues, feminine products, dish detergent and laundry detergent. 4 CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Karen Hoose, Director of Faith Formation Fifth Sunday of Easter HOLY TRINITY PARISH FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Cindy Kollar, Faith Formation Coordinator Faith Formation News: As another year winds down in Faith Formation there are many people that need our thanks. Without these volunteers we could not do this ministry that is essential to our faith community. Elementary: Amber Murphy, Sue Shrader, and Judy Vickery. First Communion: Jamin Clemente & Pam Bray. Youth Ministry Team: Pam Bray, Sandy Brower, Jamin Clemente, Chris Lasnick, Patti Quigley, Benedetta Scarpa, Teshia Shults, Mike Shrader & Matt Trainor. Peer Youth Ministry Team (Young Adults who help prepare & run Youth Ministry sessions): Tristen Satterlee, Kirsten Tesiero, Angela Veeder, Violet Burkus, Devin O Shaughnessy, Greg Felter & Joe Tourville. Children s Liturgy of the Word: Jamin Clemente & Pam Bray. We would also like to thank Paul Whitney who provided praise & worship music for our nights of Adoration and also for working with our teen musicians and providing music for our teen masses. A safe and blessed summer to all of our Families. Remember just because our sessions have ended for the summer Jesus continues to call us to share in the Eucharistic Meal EVERY Sunday at mass. Murphy and anyone who had a hand in another successful Faith Formation Year at Holy Trinity. Your dedication and commitment to our families is what makes it possible for us as a parish community to feed our sheep. Mass of Celebration for the graduating class of Sunday, June 4th at the 10:00 A.M. Congratulations to these young people as they begin a new chapter in their lives. Please keep them in your prayers. The flowers by Mary are in honor of all living and deceased members of the Rosary Society at Holy Trinity Parish. Please join us on Tuesday evenings during the month of May at Holy Trinity Church at 7:00 P.M. to pray the Rosary. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 24th at 6:30 P.M. at the Auriesville Shrine. We have 14 Confirmands from Holy Spirit and 20 from Holy Trinity who will be celebrating the sacrament along with the parishes of St. Francis, St. Joseph s and Our Lady of Hope. Please pray for these young people that as they receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit they will be better able to discern how to share their gifts with others. All parishioners are invited to celebrate with the Bishop Scharfenberger, our priests, the candidates and their families..
