Question: I find it helpful to envision God the Father as a wise old man with a beard. But does this detract from the Honor due God? Answer: As pure spirit, God has no physical attributes. That said, Scripture does not hesitate to attribute physical attributes to him by way of analogy and metaphor. For example, The Lord s right hand is raised (Ps118:16) does not refer to a physical hand, but to God s strength and justice. God makes use of these descriptions for our sake, speaking in terms we can understand. In this light, it is permissible for us to imagine God in the human-like terms you describe. He reveals himself as Father, and that evokes images for us. The Catechism, acknowledging our need for images, also counsels: In speaking about God like this, our language is using human modes of expression. We must recall that between Creator and creature no similitude can be expressed without implying an even greater dissimilitude ; and that concerning God, we cannot grasp what he is, but only what he is not. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA): For those who desire to become Catholic and be baptized or if already baptized Catholic, desire to receive Holy Communion and /or Confirmation, call Karen SACRAMENT OF THE SICK: If you are planning a surgery, ask one of our priests to celebrate the Sacrament after one of our weekend or daily Masses. July 11th-15 at Holy Trinity Faith Formation Building 9:30 A.M.-Noon. Crafts, Games, Snacks and Stories Pre-K-6th Grade Jesus Loves Making New Friends Just Like You! The Outreach Committee of Holy Trinity Parish will be holding an Ice Cream and Cupcake sale on Friday evening, July 29, 2016, at the Main Street Park, during the Band Concert. Ice Cream, cupcakes and bottled water will be available for a donation of $1.00 per item. All proceeds will go to restock the shelves of Mother Teresa s Closet. We are currently helping approximately 80 families each month. Please stop by and support this community outreach program. MOTHER TERESA S CLOSET: Adoration of Our Lord Blessed are they who believe in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament.. Perpetual Adoration Fulton Montgomery Deanery. Look for us on Facebook. BINGO WORKERS: The Holy Name Society is scheduled for 7/16. We are looking for volunteers to help us on distribution days during the summer months of July and August. It would be a great opportunity for some of our Junior and Senior High School Students and for adults who have the summer off to come to support this worth-while project. Distribution days for July are Wednesday, the 13th and 27th. For August, Wednesday, Aug 10th and 24th. The hours are 9:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Please call the office at if you can help us out.
