DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT: Items are available, free of charge, at Holy Trinity Parish for those in need. WEDNESDAY DEVOTIONS: 3:00 P.M. In November the Wednesday Devotions will be at Holy Spirit with the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the presence of the exposed Blessed Sacrament. Prayer to Our Lady Undoer of Knots, Prayer for Vocations, Benediction, Divine Praise and closing prayer. PASTOR S MESSAGE: Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe If you brought your child to the restroom during the Liturgy of the Word, you might walk away with one of two interpretations of Jesus as King. The first and second readings are bold and victorious. We see Christ coming on the clouds for the final judgment of heaven and earth. The Gospel sets a very different tone. Jesus is under arrest and facing death before Pontius Pilate. We know how this story will end. So if Christ is King, what does it mean? Is he a glorious conqueror or a suffering servant? "My kingdom does not belong to this world." Here is the heart of Jesus' reign. He is a king -- and his "subjects" are alive and well on earth -- but, ultimately, Jesus' kingdom transcends our earthly concepts of power. Jesus faced down the temptation of a solely earthly kingship. At the close of his 40 days in the desert, the devil offered him the kingdoms of the world. Jesus only had to sacrifice his heavenly values and worship Satan. The same temptations to distort the kingship of Christ are present to us today. Jesus' invitation also endures. "Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice." It is important for us to belong to the full truth of Christ's kingdom. First, our own hearts must be transformed. Our own rebellions in favor of selfishness and against holiness must be conquered by God's grace. Second, we must work to transform the world as best we can in our own corner of it. Like Jesus shows us by his life and death, this doesn't mean domination. It means service, sacrifice, respect, and love. Our lives must "testify to the truth" of Jesus Christ, who lays down his life for his people. That is the true beauty of Christ the King! 4 CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Ann Simonson, Faith Formation Coordinator Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe HOLY TRINITY PARISH FAITH FORMATION NEWS: Cindy Kollar, Faith Formation Coordinator No Class on November 25, 2018 Sunday, December 2nd, 10:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. the 3rd Annual Vendor/Craft Event will take place in the Holy Spirit gym. Come and shop with more that 24 vendor and crafters for home décor, Christmas items, jewelry, clothing, local honey products and so much more. Food and raffles will also be a part of this event. Thank you to the M.O.F.I.A for putting on this wonderful event for our parish community. I am so excited to announce that the Knights of Columbus is working with our Faith Formation Program on a poster contest called Keeping Christ in Christmas. All children ages kindergarten to 14 yrs. have been given a participation packet for this contest. If your child has not received one, please let Ann Simonson know. All posters must be turned in by December 2nd. On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a judging reception in the Holy Spirit gym at 6:30 P.M. where ALL the entries will be displayed. After the contest, the posters will be displayed in the church for the Christmas season. The participation packet has all the rules and necessary information for the contest. No Class on November 25, 2018 Thank you to the Junior High Classes and Cheryl and Andy Walton at Holy Trinity for baking pies for the Thanksgiving Community Dinners. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Sunday, December 9th, we will celebrate the 6th Grade Class Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity. Please keep these young people in your prayers as they prepare to participate in the Mass. The Holy Trinity Rosary Society will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. in the hall meeting room. CHURCH & ROOM RESERVATION: Please contact the office at least two weeks in advance to make a request for using the church and/or a room in the hall. This will help the parish to be as fair as possible to the various organizations that use the church s property.
