3 PASTOR S MESSAGE 3 Dear brothers and sisters In todays Gospel our Lord says give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God. I would like to share with you this meditation by Saint Lawrence of Brindisi: We are to give back to each their due. Now this is a saying that is truly full of wisdom and heavenly understanding because it teaches us that there are two sorts of power, one earthly and human, the other heavenly and divine. It teaches us that we are bound in this way to a twofold form of obedience, one to human laws (when these are just and good) and the other to divine law. We are to pay Caesar with the coin bearing the image and inscription of Caesar and God with what has received the seal and image of the divine likeness: The light of your countenance, O Lord, is signed upon us (Ps 4:7). We have been created in the image and likeness of God (Gn 1:26). You are a man, O Christian. So you are the money in the divine treasure-chest, a coin bearing the image and inscription of the divine emperor. From now on if I ask with Christ: Whose image and inscription are these?, you reply: God's. And I answer: So why do you not give back to God what is His? If we truly want to be God's image then we must resemble Christ, since He is the image of God's goodness and the very imprint of His being (Heb 1:3). And God predestined those He foreknew to be conformed to the image of His Son (Rm 8,29). Christ truly gave back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God. He observed in the most perfect way possible the precepts contained in the two tablets of the divine law becoming obedient unto death, even death on a cross (Phil 2:8). Thus He was adorned in the highest degree with all virtues, both manifest and concealed. May God bless you all. Fr Javier Ibarra IVE

After a theme has been presented, the child is free to choose an activity that will make possible the inner dialogue with the Interior Teacher. The atrium is a place of work which becomes a conversation with God. The Synthesis of the Mass materials are shown to the left. The catechist and children recall the most essential moments of the Eucharist and lift up the Order of the Mass as a beautiful ordered prayer between us and God. Jesus invites us to Mass to nourish us with His Word and with His Body and Blood. The catechist and children ponder the meaning and relationship of the words and gestures of Mass; what the priest prays and how we respond.

We were asked if we could bring at least 125 ponchos with us when we went on our mission trip. We thought we would have to purchase several ponchos to meet our goal, but JoAnn heard of our need and the Mission Quilters got busy and donated 24 ponchos. LUCHA POR EL PODER Las luchas por el poder ocurren en todos los ámbitos de la sociedad, desde el escenario mundial hasta en las relaciones en el trabajo, y hasta en nuestros hogares. Luchamos por un puesto en la jerarquía de poder. Quién tiene poder sobre quién? Cómo lo usamos? Cuál es la fuente de ese poder? Cuál es la respuesta sana ante el mismo? En la lectura del Evangelio de hoy los fariseos mezclan a Jesús en la lucha por el poder sobre si los judíos deben rendir tributo a César pagando los impuestos. La respuesta de Jesús da a esta lucha y a toda lucha por el poder otra perspectiva. En consonancia con las palabras de Isaías y de Pablo, Jesús nos enseña que Dios es la fuente final de todo poder el poder de los que gobiernan en la tierra, los fariseos, Jesús, la Iglesia y el poder dentro de nosotros.
