3 ASSOCIATE PASTOR S MESSAGE O n December 8 th, the Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. This doctrine of faith was solemnly defined by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854 in the Apostolic Constitution Ineffabilis Deus. In Ineffabilis Deus, Pius IX explains the reason for the Immaculate Conception is found in God s plan to salvation through the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity: God Ineffable... having foreseen from all eternity the lamentable wretchedness of the entire human race which would result from the sin of Adam, decreed, by a plan hidden from the centuries, to complete the first work of his goodness by a mystery yet more wondrously sublime through the Incarnation of the Word. To carry out His plan of salvation, From the very beginning, and before time began, the eternal Father chose and prepared for his only-begotten Son a Mother in whom the Son of God would become incarnate and from whom, in the blessed fullness of time, he would be born into this world. With this basic reason in mind, Pius IX proceeds to explain that the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception is not a new doctrine. The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception can be found in the Church s liturgy, in the Fathers of the Church, and Tradition. Still, Pius IX did not act to solemnly define the Immaculate Conception given its universality and antiquity without first consulting the Catholic bishops of the world. The Pope explains in Ineffabilis Deus: Although we knew the mind of the bishops from the petitions which we had received from them, namely, that the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin be finally defined, nevertheless, on February 2, 1849, we sent an Encyclical Letter from Gaeta to all our venerable brethren, the bishops of the Catholic world, that they should offer prayers to God and then tell us in writing what the piety an devotion of their faithful was in regard to the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God. We likewise inquired what the bishops themselves thought about defining this doctrine and what their wishes were in regard to making known with all possible solemnity our supreme judgment. We were certainly filled with the greatest consolation when the replies of our venerable brethren came to us. For, replying to us with a most enthusiastic joy, exultation and zeal, they not only again confirmed their own singular piety toward the Immaculate Conception of the most Blessed Virgin, and that of the secular and religious clergy and of the faithful, but with one voice they even entreated us to define our supreme judgment and authority the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin. Finally, Pope Pius IX defined the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception as follows: We declare, pronounce, and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful (Ineffabilis Deus). If a donor wishes to claim a contribution as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes, the donor must relinquish control of the funds before the IRS considers it a charitable donation. The IRS states that a mailed contribution must have been postmarked on or before December 31, 1016 to establish control was released by the end of the year. Also the regular collection coming in at the 5:15 pm Mass on December 31st will be included in 2016, thank you for your generosity.

Vì có lời chép về ông rằng: 'Này Ta sai sứ thần Ta đi trước mặt con, để dọn đường sẵn cho con'. Ta bảo thật các ngươi, trong các con cái người nữ sinh ra, chưa từng xuất hiện một ai cao trọng hơn Gioan Tẩy Giả; nhưng người nhỏ nhất trong nước trời còn cao trọng hơn ông". Đó là lời Chúa. Filipenses 4:4 TIEMPO DE ESPERANZA Hoy podemos deleitarnos con el simbolismo que las lecturas de la misa nos ofrecen. En especial, la visión de Isaías de una tierra sedienta que florece en abundancia contiene un mensaje para cada uno de nosotros. La mayoría de las veces somos como esa tierra sedienta. Dejamos que las olas del consumismo, que se apoderan de tantos, nos absorban. Buscamos realizarnos en las cosas que el dinero puede comprar. Lamentablemente, esto nos deja como una tierra baldía, sedienta de algo que el dinero no puede comprar. Este tiempo sagrado tiene mucho que ofrecer para saciar nuestra sed. En una palabra, este tiempo ofrece esperanza. Se nos dice que los rescatados por Dios conocerán el gozo y la dicha. Para ellos, la pena y la aflicción habrán terminado. Comenzaremos con la procesión con la imagen de nuestra Señora, seguidamente la Santa Misa y después el almuerzo en el Jesuit Hall. Tercer Domingo de Adviento de t Gaudete (Rejoice) domingo! La luz la tercera vela (de color rosa) en su corona de Adviento. En el Domingo de Gaudete, el tiempo de Adviento cambia su enfoque. Para las dos primeras semanas de Adviento, el enfoque se puede resumir en la frase: "El Señor está por venir." Sin embargo, comenzando con el Domingo de Gaudete, el resumen podría ser: "El Señor está cerca." Este cambio se caracteriza por un estado de ánimo más ligero y una mayor sensación de alegre anticipación. Litúrgicamente, los colores se iluminan también. El cura suele llevar vestimentas de color de rosa, una tonalidad visto sólo en domingo Gaudete y Laetare. En momentos en que el foco de nuestra anticipación es a menudo en la negativa y temerosa, esta celebración es un recordatorio de que Dios que nos ama aún está a cargo y que esperamos su venida no de miedo, pero con tremenda alegría.
