3 PASTOR S MESSAGE 3 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Jesus makes a claim which only God can make: I am the bread of life. This is the true bread which can truly satisfy the hunger in our hearts. The manna from heaven prefigured the superabundance of the unique bread of the Eucharist. Saint Thomas explains: because the flesh of Christ is united to the Word of God, it also is life-giving. Thus, too, his body, sacramentally received, is life-giving: for Christ gives life to the world through the mysteries which He accomplished in His flesh. Consequently, the flesh of Christ, because of the Word of the Lord, is not the bread of ordinary life, but of that life which does not die. And so the flesh of Christ is called bread. His flesh was also signified by the manna. Manna means What is this? because when the Jews saw it they wondered, and asked each other what it was. But nothing is more a source of wonder than the Son of God made man, so that everyone can fittingly ask, What is this? That is, how can the Son of God be the Son of Man? How can Christ be one person with two natures? His name will be called Wonderful (Is 9:6). It is also a cause for wonder how Christ can be present in the sacrament. Let us continue to wonder, everyday of the mystery of Jesus, the bread of life, and when we receive Him in the Eucharist let us pray: You alone can satisfy the hunger in my heart. May I always find in you, the true bread from heaven, the source of life and nourishment I need to sustain me on my journey to the promised land of heaven. Summer Noontime Organ Recitals The Sioux Trails Chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents its annual Summer Noontime Organ Recitals at 12:10 pm on Tuesdays in Mankato. Cha ông chúng tôi đã ăn manna trong sa mạc, như đã chép rằng: "Người đã ban cho họ ăn bánh bởi trời". Chúa Giêsu đáp: "Thật, Ta bảo thật các ngươi, không phải Môsê đã ban cho các ngươi bánh bởi trời, mà chính Cha Ta mới ban cho các ngươi bánh bởi trời đích thực. Vì bánh của Thiên Chúa phải là vật tự trời xuống, và ban sự sống cho thế gian". Họ liền thưa Người rằng: "Thưa Ngài, xin cho chúng tôi bánh đó luôn mãi". Chúa Giêsu nói: "Chính Ta là bánh ban sự sống. Ai đến với Ta, sẽ không hề đói; ai tin vào Ta, sẽ không hề khát bao giờ". Đó là lời Chúa. According to St. Pope John Paul II, catechesis is a sacred and inalienable right...the Church has always considered catechesis one of her primary tasks...christ gave the apostles a final command - to make disciples of all na ons and to teach them to observe all that He has commanded Catechesis always has been and always will be a work for which the whole Church must feel responsible and must wish to be responsible. (CT 1, 14-15) It is a gi that has tremendous value to the global community at large because through the catechist's word and ac on, the message of Christ con nues to have a place in all human affairs. The work of catechists depends on the witness of the Church for full effect. As Pope Paul VI said, People today listen more to witness than they do to teachers and if they do listen to teachers it is because they are witnesses. Pero, cuál de estos es el trabajo que Dios quiere? Rara vez vemos nuestro trabajo común como el trabajo que Dios quiere. Quizás pensamos que debemos ser ministros o sacerdotes, misioneros o benefactores, que debemos realizar trabajos de tiempo completo que se consideran como las obras de Dios. Pero todo lo que hacemos con un corazón fiel y con amor por el prójimo es una obra de Dios. Cada uno tiene un papel que cumplir en el mundo y muchos dones son necesarios. No siempre podemos ver la relación directa que existe entre nuestro trabajo diario y los designios de Dios. Pero confiamos y tenemos fe en que Dios nos guía a hacer lo que es necesario, cuando es necesario. Cuál es la obra de Dios?
