3 PASTOR S MESSAGE 3 3 Dear brothers and sisters: During the celebrations of Christmas we can practice two beautiful Christian actions: Adoration and Petition. Adoration, as an act of faith, because we see with our interior eyes that the little baby in the manger is God. And, as we adore Him, we also come to Him to ask Him for graces. Since we are speaking of a very important celebration we come to Him with the most important petitions. 1. In first place we ask Him to increase our faith: Saint Paul in his letter to the Hebrews states that God has spoken to us through His Son. That s what we are celebrating today: the revelation of the son of God in the human flesh. Let us ask him to renew our faith in the power and love of our God. 2. Second, we should ask for an increase of hope: There is no other reason for the Incarnation of our Lord than our eternal salvation. In His Incarnation, says Bishop Fulton Sheen, our Lord tells us: give me your humanity and I will give you my divinity, give me your time and I will give you my eternity, give me your nothingness, and I will give you my own self, give me your sins and I will give you my grace. 3. The third grace is an increase of Charity: In fact, we are celebrating the greatest act of Charity ever seen: God himself giving us His only begotten son in ransom for our sins. We ask for the increase of charity so to correspond for such a tremendous act of charity. 4. The fourth grace is to ask the child Jesus the grace to remain with Him always. Today, we approach the little child Jesus to offer a sign of adoration. And as we do so, let us ask Him that our entire life may be a continual act of adoration to the Father through Jesus. 5. And finally we ask Jesus to bring peace to us. In Christmas season, we usually have many good thoughts in our minds. Our Lord says in the Gospel of Saint Luke: Take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be troubled with dissipation and cares of this life. It is very common for us to be excessively worried about the matters of this life, disregarding that finally we are citizens of heaven. Therefore, let us take advantage of this time of Christmas to receive the peace of the child Jesus who teaches us that there is but one necessary thing: to serve Him and love Him here on earth and be united to Him for ever in heaven, On this holy night may your heart be illuminated with love, joy and peace. And may the Blessed Virgin Mary teach us to adore and to pray as she did. Thiên thần liền thưa: "Maria đừng sợ, vì đã được ơn nghĩa với Chúa. Này trinh nữ sẽ thụ thai, hạ sinh một con trai và đặt tên là Giêsu. Người sẽ nên cao trọng và được gọi là Con Đấng Tối Cao. Thiên Chúa sẽ ban cho Người ngôi báu Đavít tổ phụ Người. Người sẽ cai trị đời đời trong nhà Giacóp, và triều đại Người sẽ vô tận". Nhưng Maria thưa với thiên thần: "Việc đó xảy đến thế nào được, vì tôi không biết đến người nam?" Thiên thần thưa: "Chúa Thánh Thần sẽ đến với trinh nữ và uy quyền Đấng Tối Cao sẽ bao trùm trinh nữ. Vì thế, Đấng trinh nữ sinh ra sẽ là Đấng Thánh và được gọi là Con Thiên Chúa. Và này, Isave chị họ trinh nữ cũng đã thụ thai con trai trong lúc tuổi già và nay đã mang thai được sáu tháng, người mà thiên hạ gọi là son sẻ; vì không có việc gì mà Chúa không làm được". Maria liền thưa: "Này tôi là tôi tớ Chúa, tôi xin vâng như lời Thiên thần truyền". Và thiên thần cáo biệt trinh nữ. Đó là lời Chúa. It is really about a living reality that is repeated every year in the heart of believers. "The mystery of the Holy Night, which historically happened two thousand years ago, must be lived as a spiritual event in the today of the Liturgy," the Pope clarified. "The Word who found a dwelling in Mary s womb comes to knock on the heart of every person with singular intensity this Christmas." Into the Light Nativity Play Another great success!
