3 PASTOR S MESSAGE 3 Parish Mission: The parish mission finished last Thursday and the missionaries concluded their journey set out in parish by visiting many families around Mankato and surrounding areas. The same missionaries will continue to spread the good news in another mission in Connecticut in the coming weeks, please, pray for them. This mission has been a great gift to the parish. The children, the youth and many others were amazed at seeing the missionaries love for the faith and spirit of sacrifice during the mission. I also am very grateful to all the volunteers who in different ways offered their time to serve the missionaries, specially the cooks and the servers. I also am very grateful for those who made their cars available for the missionaries to go out during the heated hours of the day. Our Lord once said: He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet: and he that receiveth a just man in the name of a just man, shall receive the reward of a just man. And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward. (Mt 10:41-42) many of you who have opened the doors for the missionaries will definitely receive many graces for welcoming the same Jesus our Lord, who came to your door in a mysterious way, to listen to you and to give you a chance to work for his kingdom. Perhaps thel reward will not be here but in eternity. The gospel of this Sunday leads us to wonder what would be our response to the question of Jesus: who do the crowds say that I am? Jesus is in solitude and the disciples silenced praying and observing Jesus, when suddenly, the Lord quests them. Only Peter, is able to respond with the answered, the Christ of God The word "Christ" means מ שׁ יח, Messiah, anointed. It comes from the Greek Χριστός, cristos, and is a translation of the Hebrew word for meshiyach, which means anointed. Jesus revealed to them as the one who came to redeem and save, but not as a political leader but as spiritual one, that is why he said: The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised. He proclaimed the destiny of the Son of God, why He was anointed. Therefore, for those who follow Him they also must take up their daily cross and follow Him, because in following Him in the sacrifice and renunciation of our daily life we are able to live and save our soul for His glory. We can ask Our Lord Jesus for the grace to follow Him without complain as true disciples of Him, so that as we share with Him in His passion and death, we may also share with Him the glory of the Resurrection at the last day. Fortnight for Freedom: Each year dioceses around the country arrange special events to highlight the importance of defending religious freedom. The Fortnight for Freedom is from June 21 the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More to July 4, Independence Day. "We are Catholics. We are Americans. We are proud to be both, grateful for the gift of faith which is ours as Christian disciples, and grateful for the gift of liberty which is ours as American citizens. To be Catholic and American should mean not having to choose one over the other. Our allegiances are distinct, but they need not be contradictory, and should instead be complementary. That is the teaching of our Catholic faith, which obliges us to work together with fellow citizens for the common good of all who live in this land. That is the vision of our founding and our Constitution, which guarantees citizens of all religious faiths the right to contribute to our common life together. Hold a prayer vigil for religious freedom. Eucharistic adoration, the Rosary, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet and all be forms of intercession for our country and our first freedom. Father Mariano Varela, IVE Dear Parishioners: The Ss. Peter and Paul Youth Group is thankful for all the ways you have shown us support both spiritually and monetarily. You are truly helping the youth of our Parish grow closer to Christ. This coming summer, fall and winter we are looking for ways in which we can return the favor and along with that answer Pope Francis call to living out the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. If you are someone who has a hard time keeping up with your yard work, mowing grass, picking up sticks, raking leaves, or shoveling snow in the winter- we kindly ask you to send us a message so we can place you on our list as we develop our Secret Service Youth Mission Group at the Parish. This group will be reaching out in various ways in the community, and we most definitely want one of those ways to be with our own parishioners. 4 JUNE 19, Holy Mission First of all, I want to thank all the Missionaries, the Sisters and the Minors for coming and bring us the Word of Christ and so much Joy to our parish. We were so blessed to have you come again. Also want to thank all who helped with the Mission these past 10 days. For all the cooks and their helpers. (You know who you are.) It was magnificent and the Missionaries, the Minors and the Sisters all appreciated your hospitality and good food. Thanks again. 7 12º DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO 19 DE JUNIO 2016 SEGUIR LOS PASOS A CRISTO La gran celebración de cincuenta días de la Pascua ha concluido, al igual que las fiestas en honor a la Santísima Trinidad y al Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. La semana pasada comenzamos el largo tramo del Tiempo Ordinario que nos llevará hasta el final de noviembre. San Pablo nos dice hoy que los que han sido bautizados se han revestido de Cristo (Gálatas 3:27). Este mensaje es inspirador y al mismo tiempo nos alecciona, ya que en el Evangelio de hoy, vamos al centro de lo que significa estar revestidos de Cristo. El Señor nos dice, si alguno quiere acompañarme, que no se busque a sí mismo, que tome su cruz de cada día y me siga (Lucas 9:23). La Santa Misa será a las 4 pm y el P. Ubaldo Roque celebrara la Santa Misa. Durante la Santa Misa el P. Miguel y el P. Mariano estarán escuchando confesiones. Es una linda oportunidad para cruzar por la puerta santa de la parroquia y ganar las indulgencia que se conceden en este año jubilar. Una vez atravesada la Puerta Santa o Puerta de la Misericordia, o que se verifique una de las otras circunstancias en las que el Papa Francisco ha concedido que se pueda obtener la indulgencia (por ejemplo, para los enfermos, los encarcelados y para cualquier persona que realiza en primera persona una obra de misericordia), además de las condiciones habituales que piden un corazón bien dispuesto para que la gracia pueda obtener los frutos esperados, los fieles deberán dedicarse un momento a la oración para cumplir con los últimos requisitos: la profesión de fe y la oración por el Papa y por sus intenciones.
