3 PASTOR S MESSAGE 3 In this Sunday s Gospel, twice the disciples were amazed and exceedingly amazed and astonished at the words of Christ who says that how hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God. Of course the Lord did not condemned those who were well off, what He strengthened is the importance to be detached of material goods in order to accept the Kingdom of God, seek the Lord and His justice and the other will be added to you the testimony and example of the young rich man gives clear witness that he was fulfilling the commandments, Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth but Jesus was asking more, was asking to move beyond his comfort zone, not just to say I fulfill all of these commandants what the Lord wanted of this young man was that he has to put into practice what he believed was right. There could be a temptation in our lives that just to say that I obey the commandments as a good catholic, I go to Mass, I obeyed the ten commandments, I don t steal, etc. that is what Jesus demanded of this man, if you are good in obeying the commandments, now is the time to put into practice your belief. Let us be generous with our time, with our treasure and talents, let us put them into practice so that the Lord may work with us, that seeing our good deeds we can bear witness that our faith is not nominalist, but one who is down to earth, where we are willing to be in the service of our brothers and sisters. Let us be generous with our resources, that having given up many of our things our Lord may repay us with a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and land, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. Amen Mum Fest: Thanks to all those who donated their time, treasure and talent to make successful the 2015 Mum Fest. It was nice to see the presence of parishioners who supported this event. Thank you everyone. Retreat: For a week I will be taking part in a retreat in upstate New York, pray for me please. Synod of the Family: On October 8, 2013, Pope Francis announced that in October 2014 there would be an Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on topics related to the family and evangelization. Please continue to pray for the fruit of this important gathering of bishops. What is the Synod of Bishops? The Synod of Bishops is a permanent institution of the Catholic Church. It was established by Pope Paul VI in 1965, shortly after the close of the Second Vatican Council, to continue the spirit of collegiality and communion that was present at the Council. The Synod is an assembly of bishops from around the world who assist the Holy Father by providing counsel on important questions facing the Church in a manner that preserves the Church's teaching and strengthens her internal discipline. Chẳng có ai là nhân lành, trừ một mình Thiên Chúa. Ngươi đã biết các giới răn: đừng ngoại tình, đừng giết người, đừng trộm cắp, đừng làm chứng gian, đừng lường gạt; hãy thảo kính cha mẹ". Người ấy thưa: "Lạy Thầy, những điều đó tôi đã giữ từ thuở nhỏ". Bấy giờ Chúa Giêsu chăm chú nhìn người ấy và đem lòng thương mà bảo rằng: "Ngươi chỉ thiếu một điều, là ngươi hãy đi bán tất cả gia tài, đem bố thí cho người nghèo khó và ngươi sẽ có một kho báu trên trời, rồi đến theo Ta". Nhưng người ấy nghe những lời đó, thì sụ nét mặt và buồn rầu bỏ đi, vì anh ta có nhiều của cải. Lúc đó Chúa Giêsu nhìn chung quanh và bảo các môn đệ rằng: "Những người giàu có vào nước Thiên Chúa khó biết bao!" Các môn đệ kinh ngạc vì những lời đó. Nhưng Chúa Giêsu lại nói tiếp và bảo các ông rằng: "Hỡi các con, những kẻ cậy dựa vào tiền bạc, thật khó mà vào nước Thiên Chúa biết bao! Con lạc đà chui qua lỗ kim còn dễ hơn người giàu có vào nước Thiên Chúa". Các ông càng kinh ngạc hỏi nhau rằng: "Như vậy thì ai có thể được cứu độ?" Chúa Giêsu chăm chú nhìn các ông, và nói: "Đối với loài người thì không thể được, nhưng không phải đối với Thiên Chúa, vì Thiên Chúa làm được mọi sự". {Phêrô thưa cùng Chúa Giêsu rằng: "Đây chúng con đã bỏ mọi sự mà theo Thầy". Chúa Giêsu trả lời rằng: "Thầy bảo thật các con, chẳng ai bỏ nhà cửa, anh em, chị em, cha mẹ, con cái, đồng ruộng vì Thầy và vì Tin Mừng, mà ngay bây giờ lại không được gấp trăm ở đời này về nhà cửa, anh em, chị em, cha mẹ, con cái và ruộng nương, cùng với sự bắt bớ, và ở đời sau được sự sống vĩnh cửu. Nhưng có nhiều kẻ trước nhất sẽ nên rốt hết, và những kẻ rốt hết sẽ nên trước nhất".} Đó là lời Chúa. 7 XXVIII DOMINGO TIEMPO ORDINARIO 11 DE OCTUBRE DE 2015 Clases de Doctrina LOS DISCÍPULOS Y LA RIQUEZA A veces creemos que tener riquezas materiales es algo malo. Nos convencemos a nosotros mismos que los pobres son los más favorecidos. En las lecturas de hoy, descubrimos que las riquezas materiales no son lo único que nos impide ser discípulos. Ya veremos que hay otros dones más importantes que esas riquezas. Pero así todo, lo que más importa es el uso que hacemos de nuestros dones. Las Escrituras de hoy señalan el valor de los dones de la sabiduría, la confianza en Dios y una cualidad que permite que nuestras acciones reflejen el amor de Dios que llevamos en nuestro interior. No es el oro lo que nos hace tropezar, sino el desear el oro por encima de todo lo demás. En las lecturas de la Sabiduría y Hebreos, descubrimos la fuente de los dones de Dios en nuestra vida. La sabiduría vale mucho más que las posesiones materiales. En Hebreos, se nos motiva a examinar nuestros valores y a reconocer con honestidad qué es lo que rige nuestra vida. Copyright J. S.
