3 PASTOR S MESSAGE 3 The story of this Sunday s gospel highlights true humility and true charity, this is the main point of Jesus gospel. The poor widow, forgetful of herself and of her own needs gave all she had to live on, her last penny, to help others who were in need. She made this sacrifice without publicity and without seeking the praise of her neighbors. While the Scribes sought to earn the respect and praise of their fellow-jews, as well as all the financial gain they could come by from the practice of the external of their religion, this poor widow s religion was practiced in secret and it was to God alone that she looked for any reward that He might deign to give her. Her generosity shows us that she will live in God s providence, otherwise, she wouldn t give the last penny. She trusted in the same way that God provided for the poor widow of Sarepta, ( Conf. 1 King 17:7). God will provide for her in the same way. This passage leads us to reflect on two things of our daily life: first, that sometimes we are afraid of giving to God with generosity, with the temptation of not trusting in Him, in the way that I will not be able to reach my desires and satisfactions; secondly, that giving like the Pharisees, that is the superfluous to the Church. A good steward of God gives with generosity out of his resources no matter what sacrifice he will have to do. This weekend we are launching once again an opportunity for everyone to be involved in different ministries in the parish. You may take home the stewardship pamphlet or if you feel that you are ready to offer your time and talent in a particular ministry check it and return it to the parish as soon as possible. Don t waste your precious time in things that give no peace and happiness. Invest your time, treasure and talent for your brothers and sisters, there you will find happiness. Last Tuesday s reading St. Paul says: Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith; if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. (Rom 12:5) The Catechism of the Catholic Church in # 2443 states: God blesses those who come to the aid of the poor and rebukes those who turn away from them: "Give to him who begs from you, do not refuse him who would borrow from you"; "you received without pay, give without pay." It is by what they have done for the poor that Jesus Christ will recognize His chosen ones. When "the poor have the good news preached to them," it is the sign of Christ's presence. Example of a Saint: When her mother reproached her for caring for the poor and the sick at home, St. Rose of Lima said to her: "When we serve the poor and the sick, we serve Jesus. We must not fail to help our neighbors, because in them we serve Jesus.. Father Mariano Varela, IVE Liturgical In Service and Recommissioning Saturday, November 14, from 10 am to 12 noon Fr. The Great Promise Award The Great Promise Award recognizes Catholic Youth of the greater Mankato who have been nominated by their teachers and selected by the Mankato Serra Club for their exemplary Christian Leadership. This year Matthew Bach and Brandon Miller from our parish were recognized at a Mass and celebration dinner on November 3. Congratulations Matthew and Brandon!

Mến Chúa hết lòng, hết trí khôn, hết sức mình, và yêu tha nhân như chính mình thì hơn mọi lễ vật toàn thiêu và mọi lễ vật hy sinh". Thấy người ấy tỏ ý kiến khôn ngoan, Chúa Giêsu bảo: "Ông không còn xa Nước Thiên Chúa bao nhiêu". Và không ai dám hỏi Người thêm điều gì nữa. Đó là lời Chúa. Aunque eran pobres y el dar aún algo bien pequeño podría poner en peligro su salud y bienestar, confiaban en Dios y daban lo que podían. Lo que es importante sobre sus donativos no es la cantidad que daban, sino que daban algo. Sin egoísmo, daban para ayudar a otros. Su dar salía del corazón, con poca esperanza o intención de recibir algún premio o reconocimiento por su generosidad. El valor monetario de los dones de las viudas eran pequeños, pero su valor en la medida del Reino era inestimable. Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Como todos los años invitamos a todos a la celebración de la Virgen de Guadalupe el día Sábado 12 de Diciembre a las 11 de la mañana. Después de la Santa Misa tendremos un almuerzo en el Hall de la parroquia. Un grupo de mariachis estará animando la celebración.
