Tickets are just $25 each and numbers will be assigned once the entire board has been filled in. You can purchase a chance to win after each Mass in January. The board is located in the church hall. Checks can be made out to ICC, with Super Bowl Pool in the memo line. Spread the word to your family and friends. The payout is as follows: 1st Qtr. winner- $250 2nd Qtr. winner- $250 3rd Qtr. winner- $250 4th Qtr. winner- $500 American Red Cross Blood Drive, Wednesday, January 24, 12:30-5:30 in the social hall. For an appointment call , walk-ins are welcome. New Chairs for the Social Hall Thank you to everyone who made special donations for the new chairs for our social hall. We are in the process of choosing the best chairs for our church. Donations will still be accepted for this needed upgrade. Sample pictures will be on display next weekend in the social hall. The Urda family would like to thank the entire Immaculate Conception community for all that you have done for us during our recent losses of Ted/Fred and Jean Urda. Your prayers, kind words, cards, Mass cards were all appreciated. To everyone that participated in the funeral masses: those that planned, those that served, those in the music ministry - thank you. To the kitchen/ luncheon crew, wonderful job. We ask for your continued support and prayers as we move toward healing. We pray that 2018 will be a happy, healthy one for all of you. Volunteer Opportunities Greene Food Pantry - We collect non-perishable foods for our local food pantry. May & November we cover the hours at the Pantry. Meals On Wheels Our volunteers make the deliveries for August & February: Mon, Wed, Fri, 11:15am. Call the Parish Office to join our team! Bottle & Can Drive - drop off your refundable items n the bin next to the Rectory garage. St. Pauly Textile collection shed in our parking lot. Donate your unwanted clothes & fabric items & ICC receives 4 cents per pound collected. Theology on Tap, Thursday, January 19, pm at Thirsty s Tavern, Bing. Young Adults: join us for food, fellowship, and Catholic theology! The Greene Central School PTO committee will once again hold their Winter BBQ Fundraiser at our parish. The date is Sunday, January 21 from 11:30-3. You can pre order your BBQ by calling the church office. First Penance Student and parent workshop will be Saturday, January 20 from 10-12:30 and will include lunch. All 2nd grade students and a parent should plan to attend. Echoes of Faith Teacher Workshop All CCD teachers are invited to attend a special training class on Scripture sponsored by our Diocese. We will carpool up to New Berlin on Sunday, January 28 right after Mass for this class. For more information contact Gloria Straniero. Confirmation News! Sunday, January 14, class will meet in the Parish Hall at 11:30 am, right after Mass. Parents will help teach the class. Confirmation Student Conner Grant is raising funds for his Eagle Scout Project. Any refundables dropped off in our bin during January will be included in this drive. Wisdom is the breath of the power of God. ( The book of Wisdom chapter 7). Do you want answers to life s problems? Then this Bible Study is for you. Jeff Cavins leads these short 30 minute studies via DVD format. You can choose from two meetings each week, depending on what best suits your schedule. The Sunday morning 9-10 am session does the same study as the next Thursday am session, so come when you can. If you miss a session, they are available online so you don t miss out on any treasures learned in class. We will be looking at Proverbs, Sirach, Ecclesiastes, Wisdom, Job and James over the next 8 weeks. Join us anytime! The homework readings for the week of January are Sirach 9:14-15 and 37:10-12, Proverbs 3:6 and 20:14-15, and Tobit 4:19. If you are unsure how to find these in the Bible, you can always Goggle them! The website usccb.org stands for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and this link will show you those readings from a Catholic Bible. Dear friends, Do you have any friends that live in New Berlin? How about Afton? Do they belong to the local Catholic Church there? I ve made friends with John & Joyce from Afton, and also Pat & Peter from New Berlin. These friends are Catholic and on the PCA council. What s that? They represent their church as part of the Chenango County Pastoral Care Area. Last Wednesday we had our quarterly PCA meeting. Each of the 8 Catholic Churches from New Berlin, Sherburne, Norwich, Oxford, Greene, Bainbridge and Afton had representatives there. We rotate meeting locations and this time we met in Oxford and had a tour by Julie beforehand. I enjoyed hearing about the significance of the candle and picture in each window. Our meeting began with a reflection to center our thoughts. We then talked about our successful collaboration with the advent/christmas flyer. Deacon Tim shared his vision to offer an adult evangelization study on Google Hangout during Lent. If this is something you are interested in being part of please let me know. Pat from New Berlin shared her thoughts on how their small rural parish embraces spirituality. We also heard from a lady who is interested in starting a Chenango County Chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America. This council was started by the Knights of Columbus back in They share the same vision and structure as the Knights of Columbus Men's group. We agreed to spread the word and see if any ladies are interested in a Chenango County Chapter. We will have a display table set up in the social hall for the next few weeks, near the Football pool and PTO chicken BBQ tickets. Speaking of football and BBQ! Are you as happy as me that ICC plays an active part in our community? The PTO does good things for many families with this fundraiser for scholarships. Our Winter fundraiser, the Super Bowl Pool is a really fun way to raise some funds for our building and grounds program. If you are happy that the church is so warm and toasty this winter, you can thank Nick, Chris and D.J. for finding the heating problem and fixing it before the Christmas Season. It was some great teamwork from our building and grounds team. Lastly, if you could help as a teaching assistant on Sunday mornings during CCD please let me know asap. Our kids are sweet, funny and smart and I guarantee that spending time with these awesome children will bring Joy to your life. Please consider this. Thank you for choosing ICC for worship.
