The high school footlights production of Meet me in St. Louis will be the weekend of March 9,10 and 11, with performances at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday nights and 3 pm Sunday matinee. Several of our parish youth are in the show, which is full of fun music and great dancing! A group is going to the Sunday matinee. If any seniors would like to carpool over from the church contact the church office ASAP. Tickets will be $5 per senior. American Red Cross Blood Drive here Wednesday, March 21, 12:30-5:30. 6 March 11, 2018 Church of the Immaculate Conception, Greene, New York Page 3 Religious Instruction for Children/Youth grades K-8 at ICC Class, Sunday 9:00 am: March 11, 18 Confirmation Class Sunday 4-5 pm: March 18, April 15 Stations of the Cross will be held here from 6:30-7 pm. Each Friday a different CCD class will be leading the Stations of the Cross. Each host group will use different Stations of the Cross publications. Following Stations there will be refreshments in the social hall. The Stations schedule is: Friday, March 9 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade class, parents, & teacher Edilu Hunt. Friday, March grade Shadow Stations presentation with teachers Jessica & Jim Trepa & Trudy Komperda Friday, March 23-Confirmation Class, parents, & teacher Chris Wentlent Shadow Station Dramatization at ICC! The middle school youth group will be presenting a shadow stations dramatization on Friday night, March 15 beginning at 6:30 pm. Bottle & Can Drive Saturday, March 24, 8:30-11, to benefit the Greene Lacrosse Club, to purchase equipment for the Spring season. During March any refundable containers you drop off over at our drop box by the garage will be included in this drive. Sunday Nursery News: The Sunday nursery has been very successful and we appreciate the time Jean Stevens and Patty Wagner put into making this a safe and fun space for our little ones. Please help us spread the word that this is available EACH WEEK! We will offer the nursery during the evening Easter Vigil Mass if there is a need. Little ones can come in their PJ s, and even bring their favorite blankie. A fun animated Easter movie and snack will be available as well. If this is something you or a friend would like for us to offer, please stop in and let Jean or Patty know. The Easter Sunday Nursery will be available as usual. Dear friends, Do you ever see a sunset that is so amazing that you run to get someone to share it with? It s just so moving that you may even take a picture and share it on Facebook or snapchat? Well I feel that way sometimes, when I read something that moves me spiritually. I want to share it with my parish family who would appreciate the thoughts. If you read the Catholic Sun newspaper regularly, you may have seen the March 1 article called Spirituality for Today. This weeks column was written by Father John Catoir. His topic was A grapple with sadness, and he wrote about his life and the different struggles with sadness and grief, trust and faith. Not that I am sad right now in my life! I don t mean to imply this, but Father John s message at the end gave me that rush of wanting to share it with someone! He said if you are suffering from one nagging sadness or another, and it has caused you to believe that God has withdrawn his love for you, it just isn t true! He implores us to know that God is unchanging love. He loves you on good days and bad days; during good seasons and sad. So we should carry on with courage!! And when your sadness passes away, which it eventually will, you will see that the strength you learned was a gift from God. You are a stronger person for fighting your way through and not giving up. We sing about having strength for the journey. This is what it is talking about. Father John closes with this sentiment: May the lord be your strength and your joy as you journey through life, with all the sadness and all the joy! (Beautiful words just like a beautiful sunset.) You may be interested to know that our 13 Confirmation young people attended their retreat last Sunday, held here at ICC. My husband Chris is their teacher and planned an afternoon of reflection that began with an hour of question and answer time with Father Paul. They came up with some interesting questions for Fr. Paul to answer and he had some thought provoking questions for them as well! Some were hard to answer, but good food for thought. We have a great group of teenagers at our parish, and their Confirmation Mass is scheduled for May 17. This is a Thursday night, and we will join the other Chenango County Catholic Churches at St. Paul s in Norwich for this Sacrament. Thank you for being here today.
