2 The Epiphany of the Lord Saturday and Sunday January 5-6, January 5-6, 2019 Dear Friends: This is my first opportunity to write to you since Christmas and New Year s. (Holiday day bulletin deadlines are in advance of the actual days.) Looking back on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I am so very grateful for the celebrations that we had. The church looked beautiful, as always. All of our liturgical ministers and behind the scene helpers did a great job again. And our music was over the top. In fact, I am still hearing comments daily on how wonderful it was. Particularly beautiful this year, as so many people have said. Thank you to all of you for a wonderful holiday time. This weekend, as we celebrate the Feast of Epiphany and the close of the Christmas season, we also show our gratitude to our music ministry with a party on Sunday evening at the Saint Jude rectory. I will be sure to pass on your thanks to all of them! There isn t much else to report at this point, except to say that we re moving forward with the next phase of life around here: pre-lent and Easter planning, our annual adult education Catholicism 101 series, and so on. The days do seem to pass quickly. We are also moving ahead with building a comprehensive youth ministry program for youth in grades 5 through 12. Celebrate the Sacrament of your Marriage at the 2019 St. Jude World Marriage Day St. Jude parish will honor couples celebrating 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 or more than 60 years of marriage, at the 4:00 p.m. mass on Saturday, January 19, You are invited to participate if you are celebrating one of these special anniversaries ANY TIME DURING THE YEAR OF Please contact Pat Blanchard at (225) to register to be a part of this special celebration. Registration deadline is January 11th. Prepare to feel special: All honored couples will receive a corsage and boutonnière, process in with the priest to reserved seating for the mass, receive a special marriage certificate of participation and a keepsake program. There will be a renewal of vows during mass and a reception in the parish hall for you and your guest immediately following the mass. All couples should bring a wedding photo for the display table at the reception Couples are invited to have their family member take their picture during the reception for a comparison to their original photograph and to capture the memory of the day. This event is hosted by members of the St. Jude Marriage Encounter Ministry and St. Jude Church. St Jude Nursery is available for children between the ages of six months and three years old every Sunday during 9:45am mass in the Main Building (nursery room). WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS. 4 Nourished & Cherished Eph. 5:29 Recognizing Your Dignity in a Culture of Comparison Women s Morning of Re lection The Catholic Daughter s of St. Jude invite all women to join them for a morning of re lection to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the St. Jude parish hall. Fr. Ryan Hallford, St. Jude Associate Pastor, will be our spiritual facilitator Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the Re lection will be 9:00-12:00. There is no fee for attending. However, due to limited seating, please RSVP no later than January 19th to Anita Harper, or Joyce Eiserloh, St. Jude Men s Club Meeting January 10, 2019 All male parishioners 21 and over are invited to join us at a meeting of the St. Jude Men s Club on Thursday, January 10 th beginning at 6:30 PM in the parish hall. Make your plans now to attend. The Men s Club is NOT a dad s club or a select group of friends, but rather embraces diversity and encourages men of all ages to participate. We focus on Christian fellowship and social fun while providing assistance to the church parish and school as needed. Culture of Life Reflections St. John Paul II commended to her (Our Lady of Guadalupe) maternal protection the life and innocence of children, especially those who run the risk of not being born.
