3 A Note From The Pastor This Monday we celebrate Memorial Day: It s a day when we should thank God for the men and women who have given their lives, so that we might have freedom. May God grant eternal rest to them, and provide comfort to families mourning the loss of a loved one who served our country. I am happy to report that Fr. Charles will once again visit our Parish over the summer! He sent me an of his plans to travel from Uganda and arrive here about July 15th, leaving August 15th. Please give him a warm welcome when he arrives. This Friday, June 2nd, is the last day school for OLH. Summer vaca on should be a me of extra leisure, spending more me on ma ers like faith, and with family and friends. Regarding faith, spending more me in prayer with the Lord, and doing spiritual reading, maybe reading the Bible, a biography of Jesus, or the life or wri ngs of one of the Saints. I would like to remind all of you about two of the ongoing faith forma on opportuni es we have available here at Our Lady of Humility. The first is the Lighthouse Media Kiosk, near the confessional area (where the altar servers vest). Booklets and CDs are available for a small suggested dona on (suggested if possible, but not required). We also have access to the Formed Website (h ps://formed.org): Just register and then logon using our Parish Code QHVFMY. You will have free access to quality Catholic video and audio programing such as: Exploring the Catholic Faith, Bible Studies, Sacramental Prepara on, Parish-Based Programs, Youth and Discipleship Programs, and a number of programs in Spanish. There many DVD movies, audio CDs, and a number of books to read via kindle and other devices. All of these features are free. Currently there are about 50 parishioners using this free service paid for by the Parish. For those already using it, please spread the word! This Sunday we celebrate the Ascension. It marked a me of transi on for Jesus first followers. They had to trust and wait for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on that first Pentecost. Like them, may we too be faithful as we transi on into the summer may we stay close to the Lord, and allow Him to build up our faith. God Bless, Fr. 6 FIRST FRIDAY HOLY HOUR THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 2, 2017 Repara on Of Sin Against The Sacred Heart Of Jesus THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS began this devo on of the Holy Hour of Repara on when He entered the Garden of Gethsemane on Mount Olivet. He said to His Apostles: My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay you here, and watch with Me. Later He said to them: Could you not watch one hour with Me? Watch and pray, that you enter not into tempta on. ( Ma hew 26:38, 40, 41). When Jesus saw the sins of the world, and the repara on that must be made to His Heavenly Father, He began to fear, and to be sad and sorrowful. Kneeling down, He prayed: Father if Thou will, remove this chalice from Me; but not My Will, Thine be done. There appeared an Angel from Heaven to strengthen Him; and being in agony, He prayed the longer, and His sweat became as drops of blood trickling to the ground. ( Luke 22:41, 44). The Sacred Heart of Jesus said to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque: Make repara on for the ingra tude of men. Spend an hour in prayer to appease divine jus ce, to implore mercy for sinners, to honor Me, to console Me for My bi er suffering when abandoned by My Apostles, when they did not WATCH ONE HOUR WITH ME. The Game will start at 7:05PM, but we will be having a Tailgate Party beginning at 6:05PM. The Cost will be $18 Per Person, with all the ballpark food you can eat up to the start of the Game. Food fare will include: Burgers, Brats, Hotdogs, Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad Sandwich, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, and Chips. Sodas and Water are also part of the fare. We will have reserved seats in the grandstand. If you would like to join us, please sign-up on the Sign-up Sheet in the Church Ves bule by Monday, June 12th. 7 Memorial Day Prayer Dear God, On this day we remember the sacrifices made for us by those who were willing to give their lives to ensure that our own would be spent in freedom. Let us never forget to pray, not only for the dead, but also for those s ll living and working in the cause of freedom around the world. As we celebrate and enjoy this me, give comfort and grace to those men and women who have sacrificed so much for our sake. Religious Educa on Classes for Grades Preschool through High School, are offered on Sunday Mornings from 10:30AM un l 12 Noon, and on Monday Evenings for Kindergarten through 8th Grade, from 6:30PM un l 8PM. We will be star ng classes for the School Year on Sunday, September 10th, and Monday, September 11th. Classes will go through Sunday, April 29th, and Monday, April 30th, A Catechist is needed for 2nd Grade on Sunday Mornings, and we need Aides for both Sunday Mornings and Monday Evenings.
