3 A Note From The Pastor... I have an important update regarding the Archdiocese of Chicago s Renew My Church (RMC) Ini a ve. There has been a change with two groupings in Vicariate I. A decision has been made to go from two groupings of three parishes each, to three groupings of two parishes each. Previously, we were grouped with St. Patrick s in Wadsworth along with St. Paul the Apostle in Gurnee. Now we are grouped only with St. Patrick s in Wadsworth. St. Paul the Apostle in Gurnee will now be grouped with St. Gilbert in Grayslake. Regarding melines, there will be one Wave of groupings each year with Wave Three beginning right now ( ). Once a grouping begins a Wave, the corresponding parishes meet together with parish representa ves (pastors, lay leaders, parishioners, and school families) along with a facilitator from the Archdiocese. The first step is the Discernment and Decision Phase. The parishes prayerfully discern what parish structures would be best for future vitality. A er a guided process and at the end of this phase, the representa ves provide feedback on poten al configura ons of parishes and schools within the grouping. The Archdiocese receives the feedback and reviews it to ensure that consistent criteria are used to jus fy structural decisions, and prevent against Catholics having to drive a long distance to a end Mass. Having said this, our grouping of St. Patrick s in Wadsworth and OLH are scheduled to begin the Discernment and Decision Phase in Wave Six ( ). I wanted to inform you that the gi s received during the Annual Catholic Appeal s Commitment Weekend have arrived at the Gi Processing Center, and will be processed and acknowledged in the next few weeks. This includes gi s of cash, checks, and credit cards. Thanks to all of you for your generosity! Lent is moving along, as this weekend we celebrate the Second Sunday of Lent. I want to con nue to remind you of our joint Parish Mission with St. Patrick s in Wadsworth and St. Paul the Apostle in Gurnee. Fr. Ryan Adorjan will give the Mission on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings, April 7th, 8th, and 9th, at 7PM. The Mission will be held in St. Patrick s main Church. Please mark your calendars; Fr. Adorjan has a reputa on for being a phenomenal speaker. Please also note that we will not be having a Lenten Reconcilia on Service. Instead, Confessions will be heard at St. Patrick s before and a er the Parish Mission on Sunday and Monday, April 7th and 8th. On Tuesday, April 9th, Confessions will be heard only before Mass begins at 7PM; a er Mass there will be me for fellowship in the narthex. Please do not wait un l Tuesday to come to Confession! I will have more details about the mes for Confession in the near future. Join your fellow parishioners for some delicious treats, and the even be er treat of community and fellowship. Special Note: The April Donut Sunday will be a Special Donut Sunday on Palm Sunday, April 14th, There will not be a Donut Sunday on Easter Sunday, April 21st, Easter Candy Dona ons Dona ons of wrapped candies are needed for our third annual Easter Egg Hunt to follow the 11:30AM Easter Mass on April 21st. Please feel free to drop off candy dona ons at either the Rectory or the School Office no later than Friday, April 12th. We also plan to have a box for Easter Candy dona ons in the ves bule between the Church and the School if you would like to bring them with you to Church on Sundays. We will be gathering to fill the eggs for the Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 13th, from 10AM un l 12 Noon in the Hayes Community Room. We do ask that any students who would like to help with the egg stuffing as part of their Confirma on Service Hours be accompanied by an adult. RCIA Rite Of Chris an Ini a on Of Adults This year Our Lady of Humility has five adults going through the RCIA process desiring to become Catholic. The Elect and those Candidates called to con nuing conversion are: David Hall, Crystal Ramirez, Irma Crist, and Yuridia Ruiz. Our Inquirer, Josephine Jefferson, is currently discerning the call of the Gospel in her life. Will you please keep all our RCIA par cipants in your daily prayers during Lent? Perhaps you may even choose to pray for one person or family in par cular, and include them in your family prayers before meals. Thursday, March 28th, is Our Lady of Humility s commitment to provide volunteers to help with the Soup Kitchen at Holy Family Services (the old St. Bartholomew Parish) located at: 914 8th Street, Waukegan. It is always the fourth Thursday of every month. Food prepara on begins at 3PM, dinner is served at 5:30PM, followed by clean-up. We are usually done by 7PM. Any me that you can give is greatly appreciated. We are in desperate need of more assistance from our Parishioners on a regular basis. Dedicate The Sanctuary Light The Sanctuary Light by the Tabernacle in Church burns to remind us of the sacramental presence of Jesus Christ. It is a mark of honor to remind the faithful of the presence of Christ, and is a profession of their love and affec on. If you wish to have the Sanctuary Light burning in memory of a loved one, to honor a special occasion, or for a special inten on, make arrangements with the Parish Office. The cost of the Sanctuary Light is $ It will burn for one week from Sunday un l the following Saturday. The memorial will be published in the Bulle n. Flame Of Love Of Immaculate Heart Of Mary Our Blessed Mother said, I would like to place in your hands a new instrument, which I want you to accept and appreciate its importance. The moment is near when my Flame Of Love will ignite. At that moment, satan will be blinded. The Flame will ignite, and will reach the whole world, not only in the na ons consecrated to me, but all over the earth. It will spread out even in the most inaccessible places, because there is no place inaccessible to satan. The Flame Of Love is the ul mate weapon to combat the rampant spiritual warfare that exists in this me in history when good is being called evil, and evil is being called good. We understand be er now why this sublime grace was given specifically for this me, and the urgent need to get to work at a point in human history when satan s power reached a peak. Even if the darkness seems to have taken over for a while, do not doubt the outcome of this great struggle. Here s what Mary said: There has never been a me of grace like this since the Word became flesh. Blinding satan will shake the world. Let us con nue wholeheartedly this great fight to blind the evil one and save souls, hand in hand with our Blessed Mother. Classes will resume on Sunday, April 7th, from Spring Break. There will be No Classes on Easter Sunday, April 21st, and Classes will resume on Sunday, April 28th, which will be our Last Class for this School Year. Both First Communions this year will be held on: Saturday, May 11th, at 10AM for the Religious Educa on Students, and at 12 Noon for Our Lady of Humility School Students. 7 Easter Flowers Flowers are an important feature of the environment for the Easter season in Church, because they help to establish an atmosphere of the celebra on of new life in the Risen Lord. 9 Eucharis c Adora on Could You Not Watch One Hour With Me? Jesus waits for us in the Blessed Sacrament. He waits for our li le acts of faith, adora on, love, thanksgiving, repentance, repara on, and charity that we can offer Him as we contemplate His Divine Majesty in the Blessed Sacrament. St. Alphonsus Liguori wrote: Of all devo ons, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest a er the Sacraments, the one dearest to God, and the one most helpful to us. The Eucharist is a priceless treasure: By not only celebra ng the Eucharist, but also by praying before it outside of Mass, we are enabled to make contact with the very wellsprings of Grace Pope John Paul II in one of his homilies said, It is pleasant to spend me with Him, to lie close to His breast like the Beloved Disciple (cf. Jn 13:25), and to feel the infinite love present in His heart If, in our me, Chris ans must be dis nguished by the art of prayer, how can we not feel a renewed need to spend me in spiritual conversa on, in silent adora on, in hear elt love before Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament? Prayer On St. Patrick s Day Dear Lord, Your Servant, Saint Patrick, was first a slave to, and then a servant of, Your people in Ireland. As he endured years of hardship as a slave, so help us to persevere through trials which seem to serve no purpose at the me. As Saint Patrick s me in Ireland served him well, a er he was called to be a Bishop of that land, so help us to see how our sufferings strengthen us to do Your will. Later, as Saint Patrick s people withstood great hardship, protected Your word in monasteries, and brought Your Church to many new lands, so help us also to grow in faithfulness to You, and be Your instruments of the world s conversion. Amen. Quinceanera Requirements We have many requests for Quinceaneras, and want to ensure everyone is aware of the requirements for scheduling this celebra on. We offer a Quinceanera Service performed by a Deacon. We require that your family be registered par cipa ng parishioners at Our Lady of Humility Parish for a minimum of one year prior to reques ng a date for the Quinceanera celebra on. Please note, registra on for Our Lady of Humility School or Religious Educa on Classes, does not register you as a parishioner. The Parish has a separate form available online, at the entries of the Church, or in the Parish Office. A par cipa ng parishioner receives Parish dona on envelopes, and regularly a ends Mass here at Our Lady of Humility Parish. Registered parishioners should contact the Rectory a minimum of 9 months in advance to schedule the Quinceanera, as Prepara on Classes must be scheduled prior to the celebra on.
