3 A Note From The Pastor This weekend we welcome Fr. Jim Merold at all of our Masses. I m grateful to Fr. Merold for covering for me so that I could take some vaca on. This Sunday we celebrate Father s Day. It s a day when we honor our fathers and father-figures, such as grandfathers, stepfathers, and so on. A blessing will be given for fathers at all of the Masses this weekend. A special Thank You to Helping Hands of Our Lady of Humility, the Knights of Columbus, and the many volunteers who assisted with our Annual Rummage Sale. Your dedica on is a great Chris an witness to reaching out and helping others in need. In this week s Gospel passage, Jesus asks His followers: Who do the crowds say that I am? So many people of Jesus me could not answer this ques on correctly, and the same is true today. Jesus goes on to ques on His disciples: But who do you say that I am? This is a ques on that absolutely nobody else can answer for us. Of course, the Church has faithfully handed on to us the truth about whom Jesus is, but the answer to the ques on is a personal search, requiring a rela onship which nobody else can do for us. I invite all of us to con nue praying for the vic ms and their families of last Sunday s terrorist a ack in Orlando, Florida. As I write this, details are s ll unfolding. In recent weeks, I have met with the Our Lady of Humility Staff and many others, one-on-one, to discuss the status of safety and security here at Our Lady of Humility. We are considering a camera system, and implemen ng addi onal policies and procedures. I will keep you informed as implementa ons unfold. Let us pray for one another, and peace in the world. It is always the fourth Thursday of every month. Food prepara on begins at 3PM, dinner is served at 5:30PM, followed by clean-up. We are usually done by 7PM. The Sacrament of Marriage is God s gi that strengthens the bond between a husband and wife as they journey through life s ups and downs. For this reason a man shall leave [his] father and [his] mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. ( Ephesians 5:31). This verse tells us that marriage is a sacred commitment of love between a man and a woman; their love brings them closer to God. You have an opportunity to renew your marriage vows, and to express your love for your spouse in front of God during all Masses on June 25th/26th. Come join Ms. Knudson and Ms. Burkard for an August tune-up in Reading, Wri ng, Phonics, and Math for children entering Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. 7 FIRST FRIDAY HOLY HOUR JULY 1, 2016 Repara on To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS began this devo on of the Holy Hour of Repara on when He entered the Garden of Gethsemane on Mount Olivet. He said to His Apostles: My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay you here, and watch with Me. Later He said to them: Could you not watch one hour with Me? Watch and pray, that you enter not into tempta on. ( Ma hew 26:38, 40, 41) When Jesus saw the sins of the world, and the repara on that must be made to His Heavenly Father, He began to fear, and to be sad and sorrowful. Kneeling down, He prayed: Father if Thou will, remove this chalice from Me; but not My Will, Thine be done. There appeared an Angel from Heaven to strengthen Him; and being in agony, He prayed the longer, and His sweat became as drops of blood trickling to the ground. ( Luke 22:41, 44) The Sacred Heart of Jesus said to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque: Make repara on for the ingra tude of men. 8 Religious Educa on Office The Religious Educa on Office is Closed un l Sunday, August 7th, when Registra ons will be accepted for the Fall Classes. However, the Registra on Form and informa on on the Religious Educa on Program is available on the Parish Website at: umility.org. The Registra on Form can be printed, filled out, and dropped off at the Rectory with at least the Book Fee, during the summer months, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9AM and 4PM. Religious Educa on Teachers Are Needed Several Religious Educa on Teachers are needed. Sunday Classes, which meet from 10:30AM un l 12 Noon, needs a Second Grade Teacher and a Seventh Grade Teacher. Monday Classes, which meet from 6:30PM un l 8PM, needs an Eighth Grade Teacher. Many of the Classes s ll need Aides. If you are interested, and feel called to pass on the Catholic Faith to the children and young people, you can talk to Diana Jurista, the Director, Fr. Discipleship in the Year of Mercy. We will examine issues facing our neighbors including racism, violence, and poverty. Par cipants will come away with resources and tools for use at the parish level, as well as within other aspects of public life. You may register for single days, or for the full conference. There will be workshops, keynote sessions, liturgies, and one full day for field trips to visit organiza ons funded by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
