6 Legion Of Mary Rosary Making Workshop Thank you to everyone who par cipated in our first Legion of Mary Rosary Making Workshop at the July Donut Sunday. We are very grateful to Cole e and Meredith for their pa ence, perseverance, and willingness to share their Rosary making exper se with all of us. There is something quite special about praying with (or giving to someone you love) a Rosary that you have made with your very own hands. The following are the Fi een Promises of Mary to Chris ans Who Recite the Rosary: 1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recita on of the Rosary shall receive signal graces. 2. I promise my special protec on, and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary. 3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell. It will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies. 4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish. It will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God, it will withdraw the hearts of men and women from the love of the world and its vani es, and will li them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanc fy themselves by this means. 5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recita on of the Rosary shall not perish. 6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself or herself to the considera on of the sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chas se him or her in His jus ce, he or she shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he or she be just, he or she shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life. 7. Whoever shall have a true devo on for the Rosary, shall not die without the sacraments of the Church. 8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary, shall have during their life and at their death, the light of God, and the plen tude of His graces, and at the moment of death, they shall par cipate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise. 9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary. 10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven. 11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recita on of the Rosary. 12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessi es. 13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the en re celes al court during their life and at the hour of death. 14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters of my only Son, Jesus Christ. 15. Devo on of my Rosary is a great sign of predes na on. Anyone who would like to share their own personal Rosary history (how did you learn it, when do you pray it, do you usually pray it alone, or with other people, what praying it has done for your spiritual growth, etc.), are encouraged to send it to our new address: legionofmary@ourladyo umility.org. We are looking for insight on ways to further propagate the Recita on of the Rosary. Knights Of Columbus Rosary Service The Knights of Columbus are hos ng a fi h Sunday of the month Rosary Service next Sunday, July 31st, following the 9AM Mass. All are invited to join us in praying for A Greater Respect For All Human Life. The Recita on of the Rosary is granted a plenary indulgence (under the usual condi ons) if it is recited in a Church. The gaining of the plenary indulgence is regulated by these norms: Five (5) decades of the Rosary must be prayed con nuously. The prayers of the Rosary must be prayed vocally, and one must meditate upon the Mysteries of the Rosary. If the recita on of the Rosary is public, the Mysteries of the Rosary must be announced. If the above condi ons are not fulfilled, the indulgence is only par al. 6 Welcome to Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church

For the past fi y-six years, families have enrolled their children at our School because they recognize the difference the right school makes in the lives of their children. While much has changed since 1958, one thing that hasn t changed is the care and compassion we have for our students, and our commitment to educa ng the whole child. While academics are rigorously emphasized, equally important is the social, spiritual, physical, and moral development of each child. Our teachers, all of whom are state cer fied, and highly educated, u lize a research based curriculum and best prac ces to maximize the talents of each child. Accredited by the Archdiocese of Chicago, and recognized by the State of Illinois, we embrace the changes of an evolving world, while educa ng children to appreciate a faith tradi on that is over 2,000 years old. 8 Natural Family Planning Panel Natural Family Planning (NFP) is fer lity awareness, which is simply knowledge of a couple s fer lity. It is a means of reading the body s signs of fer lity and infer lity; applying this knowledge through the Sympto-Thermal Method (STM), is over 99% effec ve in postponing pregnancy. A married couple s virtuous applica on of this knowledge either to try to achieve a pregnancy, or to postpone a pregnancy, is called responsible parenthood. Prac cing NFP is 100% Natural there are no drugs, chemicals, or devices involved, which is one reason many today find it to be a posi ve and refreshing alterna ve to contracep ve methods. NFP honors our dignity as persons by respec ng the natural rhythms and func ons of the body. It is very common to hear couples who use NFP speak of an increased awe and respect for femininity, and their mutual fer lity, and a greater sense of empowerment through self-knowledge. Please join a variety of couples who will share their experience of using Natural Family Planning. Cer fied Natural Family Planning Teaching Couple, Ed and Sharon Harrigan, along with users of the method, Tom and Leslie Hazinski, and Tim and Helen Gondek, will take me to discuss with young married or engaged couples, their experiences with Natural Family Planning. Whatever circumstances you find yourself in, whether you are trying to achieve pregnancy, or are trying to avoid pregnancy, please join us to learn more. 8 Welcome to Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church Time: Following the 11AM Mass This Sunday, July 24th Where: Hayes Community Room Light refreshments will be served. July Is HIV Awareness Month! While great progress has been made in the preven on and treatment of HIV/AIDS, and in reducing the number of deaths from the disease, we con nue to see new infec ons. Of the 1¼ million people in the United States who are HIV+, 20% of these DO NOT KNOW that they are infected, and are poten ally spreading the virus to others. It is es mated that 50,000 new HIV Infec ons occur every year in the United States. Complacency about HIV/AIDS contributes to these numbers. This month offers an opportunity to bring a en on to the need to educate at risk popula ons in your community about the importance of tes ng and preven on, and seeking care for those who are HIV+. The only way to know if you have the virus is to get tested. KNOW YOUR STATUS GET TESTED AND URGE OTHERS TO GET TESTED! For more informa on, call (312) , or go to THIS DISEASE HAS NO CURE; THERE IS NO VACCINE TO PREVENT IT, AND, IT WILL NOT GO AWAY! Gracious God, make us one as we challenge poverty, ignorance and fear, prejudice, and discrimina on for those living with HIV/AIDS.

9 Eucharis c Adora on Things To Do During Eucharis c Adora on Fr. Benedict Groeschel points out in In The Presence of Our Lord: The History, Theology, and Psychology of Eucharis c Devo on that there are four kinds of prayer most appropriate in the presence of the Eucharist, namely adora on and praise, thanksgiving, repentance, and trus ng intercession. Here are sugges ons for what to do during private Eucharis c Adora on: 1. Pray the Psalms, or the Liturgy of the Hours. Whether you are praising, giving thanks, asking for forgiveness, or seeking an answer, you will find an appropriate Psalm. The ancient prayer of the Church called the Liturgy of the Hours, presents an excellent way to pray through the Book of Psalms throughout the year. 2. Recite the Jesus Prayer. Say Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner, repeatedly as you quiet your heart and mind. 3. Meditate Using Scripture. Choose a passage from the Bible. Read the words, and ask God to let the passage speak to you. Pay special a en on to anything that strikes you, and ask God what He wishes for you to draw from that passage. 4. Read the Life Of A Saint, and Pray With Him or Her. Most holy men and women have had a great devo on to Our Lord in the Eucharist. Thérèse of Lisieux, Catherine of Siena, Francis of Assisi, Thomas Aquinas, Peter Julian Eymard, Dorothy Day, Mother Teresa of Calcu a, and Baroness Catherine de Hueck are just a few. Read about them, and pray their prayers before the Blessed Sacrament. 5. Pour Out Your Heart to Christ, and Adore Him. Speak to Jesus, aware that you are in His presence, and tell Him all that comes to your mind. Listen for His response. Pray the Prayer that St. Francis instructed his brothers to pray whenever they were before the Blessed Sacrament: I adore You, O Christ, present here, and in all the churches of the world, for by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world. 6. Ask For Forgiveness, and Intercede For Others. Think of those who have hurt you, and request a special blessing for them. Ask God to forgive you for all the mes you have neglected or hurt someone else. Bring before the Blessed Sacrament all those who have asked you to pray for them. Ask the Lord to address their concerns. 7. Pray The Rosary. Pope John Paul II reminds us,...is not the enraptured gaze of Mary as she contemplated the face of the newborn Christ, and cradled Him in her arms, that unparalleled model of love, which should inspire us every me we receive Eucharis c Communion? (The Church and The Eucharist, 55). Ask Mary to join you as you gaze on Christ in the Eucharist, and as you pray the Rosary. 8. Sit quietly, and just be in the presence of God. Think of a visit to the Blessed Sacrament as coming to see your best friend. Sit quietly, and enjoy being in each other s company. Instead of talking to the Lord, try listening to what He wants to tell you. Do something special this Summer, please consider coming to Eucharis c Adora on on Thursdays at 2PM, where you will have an opportunity to spend me with the Lord Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament each week where we can ASK HIM anything. Come, bring your whole family, spend some me with the Lord, and receive His blessings! He is wai ng for you! July 24, 2016 Seventeenth Sunday In Ordinary Time 9
