3 A Note From The Pastor I forgot to announce last week that there is an addi on to our Daily Mass Schedule. With Fr. Mike Owen now helping out here at Our Lady of Humility and St. Patrick s, we will have an 8AM Daily Mass every Wednesday. And St. Patrick in Wadsworth has restored their 7:30AM Mass on Mondays. Fr. Charles finally arrives this weekend! He may say one of the weekend Masses. Please welcome him; he has been looking forward to visi ng us. For the past few weeks, he has been in Colorado doing Mission Appeals for his Diocese. Fr. Charles will be here with us un l Tuesday, August 15th, and he has graciously agreed to cover Masses for me for part of the me that he is here, so that I may take a vaca on. When I first arrived here at Our Lady of Humility, I visited a few parishioners homes to Enthrone an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (and the Immaculate Heart of Mary). Unfortunately, the coordinator moved away, so we didn t con nue the devo on. To Enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the home, means to formally place an image or statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a prominent place of honor in the home. The family invites Jesus into their home; they dedicate themselves to Him by an Act of Consecra on, recognizing Jesus as Lord and King of their home. The image or statue is a reminder to the family that Jesus is present with them in their home: Just as Catholic Churches have candles burning near the tabernacle to remind us of Jesus Real Presence in the Eucharist, so too, the image or statue of the Sacred Heart is a reminder that Jesus is present in that home. As Jesus is present in the home in a special way by way of consecra on, He intends to sanc fy all the ac vi es of family life in the home. Enthronement of the Sacred Heart is thus to be a way of life, transforming the home into a domes c Church in the world. Jesus promised St. Margaret Mary Alacoque that He will bless the home in which the image of my Sacred Heart shall be exposed and honored. Fortunately, the Legion of Mary will be bringing back and coordina ng this beau ful devo on. Please check future bulle ns for addi onal details. Also, I will again present an eight-week overview of the Bible tled, Unlocking The Mystery of The Bible. Please see next week s bulle n for more details. God Bless, Fr. Paul July 16, 2017 Fi eenth Sunday In Ordinary Time 3

6 6 Welcome to Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church RCIA Rite Of Chris an Ini a on For Adults Learn About The Catholic Church No Strings A ached! Have you asked yourself any of the following ques ons? I ve been thinking that I may want to become Catholic, but I m not really sure what s involved. Maybe, once I find out, I may or may not decide to join the Catholic Church. My children are being brought up Catholic, and I would really like to understand what they and my spouse believes. I ve been kind of leaning toward becoming Catholic myself. I m looking for something more in life than what I have now. Is the Catholic Church for me? How do I become Catholic? What Is RCIA? RCIA is an acronym for Rite of Chris an Ini a on for Adults. In the very earliest days of the Church, adults took instruc on in the Chris an Faith, and learned its ways. The RCIA is simply the process by which adults today learn about the Church, its prac ces, and prayer life, and are welcomed into the Catholic Church Faith Community. You Are Invited: RCIA is intended for: 1) Those who are not Bap zed, and may wish to be Bap zed into Christ within the Catholic community; 2) Those that are already part of Christ s Church through Bap sm in another Faith community, but who may wish to profess Faith within the Catholic Church; and 3) Those who are Bap zed Catholic, but have not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirma on and Holy Eucharist. When Are The Sessions? We meet Monday Evenings from 7PM un l 9:30PM in the Hayes Community Room of the Rectory. This year our First Session will take place on: Monday, August 28th. This first session is very important because we will spend some me ge ng to know each other, plus you will receive an overview of the process by which we learn about the Catholic Faith, and you will receive a full schedule which will be explained at this Introductory Session. To let us know that you will be a ending, or for any ques ons, please call the Parish Rectory at (847) We look forward to mee ng you. Would You Like To Be An RCIA Sponsor? Sponsors are traveling companions to the Inquirer going through the RCIA process. Sponsors are friends, companions, and guides along this journey. A Sponsor listens to his/her Inquirer s Faith ques ons and doubts; does not have all the answers, does not have to be any kind of authority of the Catholic Religion. A Sponsor comes to the weekly sessions, encourages, and is willing to share his/her me and Faith. Please call the Parish Rectory at (847) if you are interested in this most important and wonderful ministry, or if you have any ques ons.

8 Bringing Children To Christ In Eucharis c Adora on Father Antoine Thomas Develops a Program For Kids PRINCEVILLE, Illinois, October 6, 2004 (Zenit) Thanks to a French Priest s vision and devo on to the Blessed Sacrament, hundreds of children are engaging in Eucharis c Adora on, and experiencing the real presence of Christ. Father Antoine Thomas, 46, a Priest of the Congrega on of St. John, has been working in Youth Ministry for 15 years, and began leading children s Holy Hours more than 10 years ago. Now he has started a program, Children of Hope, that helps others lead Adora on for children. The Priest, who came from Paris, shared with us how children can embrace and be enriched by spending me with the Blessed Sacrament in their schools and parishes, and what adults can do to encourage the prac ce par cularly during this Year of the Eucharist. Q: Why is it important for children to engage in Eucharis c Adora on? Father Thomas: Jesus said, Let the children come to Me ; I think we had be er obey, and bring Him the children. Pope John Paul II said back in 1996: I urge Priests, Religious, and Lay People to con nue and redouble their efforts to teach the younger genera ons the meaning and value of Eucharis c Adora on and devo on. How will young people be able to know the Lord if they are not introduced to the mystery of His presence? By learning the words of the prayer of the heart, they will be closer to the Lord, who will accompany them in their spiritual and human growth.... All interior life needs silence and in macy with Christ in order to develop. This gradual familiarity with the Lord will enable certain young people to be involved... and to take a more ac ve part in Mass; for young boys, to be near the altar is also a privileged opportunity to hear Christ s call to follow Him more radically in the priestly ministry. The Holy Father con nues to stress this importance today. What we learn as children will remain in us, and help us to stay close to Jesus. Before young children have received their First Holy Communion, Eucharis c Adora on is a great way to help them receive Jesus in their heart through spiritual communion. And a erward, it helps increase in them a desire for more frequent Communion. Hopefully, during the teen years, these same children will find in Jesus a best friend, strength, and light. They also may be more disposed to hear and follow their voca on in life. Q: What benefits have you seen from children spending me with our Eucharis c Lord? Father Thomas: The children have a great excitement about being part of this kind of Prayer Group. They enjoy being at the feet of Jesus, res ng under the loving gaze of He, who is no longer hidden in the tabernacle. The children experience a pacifica on of body, mind, and spirit. They have a deeper desire to pray, are more a en ve at Mass, and have an unshakeable Faith in the real presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Q: How do you help kids understand Adora on, and get the most out of the experience? How do you keep them focused and engaged for an en re hour? Father Thomas: None of us will ever fully understand this mystery. What we do with the children is to remind them of the love that Jesus has for all. On the night before He died 2,000 years ago, driven by love and a desire for us not to forget, He chose this way, the Eucharist, to remain close to us in a more visible way. He chose this not out of necessity, but out of His infinite and merciful love. The children are reminded of the words of consecra on, and that Jesus gave this power to all priests. Once they realize they are spending me with Jesus, they are thrilled to come each week; it is their me with Him. (From Catholic Online) Do something special this Summer, please consider coming to Eucharis c Adora on on Thursdays at 1PM, where you will have an opportunity to spend me with the Lord Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament each week where we can ASK HIM anything. Come, bring your whole family, spend some me with the Lord, and receive His blessings! He is wai ng for you! 8 Welcome to Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church

9 New Rectory Office Hours Please take note, the Rectory Office Hours are now changed. Our new hours are: Monday through Thursday 8:30AM 4PM, and Friday 8:30AM 12 Noon. Our Lady Of Humility School Summer Hours The School Office will only be open on Wednesdays from 9AM un l 2PM for the remainder of July. Ten Commandments Group Study Being Offered This Summer! Jesus said, If you love Me, you will keep My Commandments. ( John 14:15). But what does that mean? How well do you know the Commandments? Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of them? The plan is to take one Commandment each week, and dive deeper into its meaning with a group of friends this summer. We will gather on Tuesday Evenings in the Holy Child Center (house on the east side of the Church) from 7:30-9PM (study follows Outdoor Sta ons of the Cross from 6:30-7:15PM.) You do not have to come every week to be part of the group study. There is no fee to par cipate, you just need to bring a Catechism Of The Catholic Church with you each week. If you do not already own a copy, you can pick one up at almost any bookstore or online book retailer. A free online version is available as well on: The Catechism Of The Catholic Church is a wonderful resource to explain the Commandments, and other teachings of the Church. By reading and discussing it together, we will all gain a much deeper understanding of what it means to love God and love others.
