3 A Note From The Pastor Best Wishes to Deacon Bob: I am grateful for Deacon Bob s dedicaon over the many years he has served here at Our Lady of Humility. Last year in December, he nofied the Vicar for Deacons and me that he would like to serve elsewhere, beginning no later than July 1st of this year that me has arrived. As many of you know, Deacon Bob is already regularly assisng at Mass at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. We wish Deacon Bob all the best in his future service. Thanks Deacon Bob! I would like to thank Winnie Webber, our Coordinator of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Mass and Celebraon, and all who assisted and parcipated. It truly was an inspiring celebraon. Next weekend, Blest Art, Inc. will be available in the Parish Center aer all of the Masses. They will be selling handcarved navity sets, statues, crosses, rosaries, and many other pieces of beauful olive wood art made by struggling Chrisan families in the Holy Land. At the 8AM Mass, anyone who would like to receive and be enrolled in the Brown Scapular of Mount Carmel, may do so. Also, please refer to our bullen for praying the Staons of the Cross outside during the Summer. This Monday we celebrate the Fourth of July. We celebrate our naon s Declaraon of Independence. It is a day for us to celebrate, and be grateful for, our freedom. It is also a day to pray for the protecon of religious freedom and freedom of conscience, both of which are under aack in our country. 4 Religious Educaon Teachers Are Needed Several Religious Educaon Teachers are needed. Sunday Classes, which meet from 10:30AM unl 12 Noon, needs a Second Grade Teacher and a Seventh Grade Teacher. Monday Classes, which meet from 6:30PM unl 8PM, needs an Eighth Grade Teacher. We also need an Adult English CoTeacher for Adults on Sunday mornings. Many of the Classes sll need Aides. 6 THE BROWN SCAPULAR OF OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL: OUR LADY S GREAT PROMISE On July 16, 1251, in Aylesford, England, the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Simon Stock. She was dressed in the Habit of the Carmelite Order with her infant Son in her arms. Taking the Scapular in her right hand, she gave it to him saying, RECEIVE, MY BELOVED SON, THIS SCAPULAR. WHOSOEVER DIES WEARING THIS SCAPULAR SHALL NOT SUFFER ETERNAL FIRE...IT SHALL BE A SIGN OF SALVATION, A PROTECTION IN DANGER, AND A PLEDGE OF PEACE. For over 700 years, the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel has been one of the most precious gis, and highlyindulgenced Sacramentals of our Church. It is more than that, however; it is in reality a garment, given to us by Our Blessed Mother which makes us her special children. Blessing and clothing with the Scapular of the Blessed Virgin of Mt. Carmel enrolls the individual in the Scapular Confraternity, and admits him or her to a share in all the spiritual works performed by the Religious of Mount Carmel. At Fama, Portugal, on October 13, 1917, Mary appeared as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, holding the Brown Scapular in her hand. Years later, Lucia, the remaining seer of Fama, said that Our Lady wants all to wear the Scapular as their sign of Consecraon to Her Immaculate Heart. On Saturday, July 16th, 2016, the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, at the 8AM Mass, Fr. Paul will be offering the opportunity to receive a Scapular, and be enrolled in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. 8 Eucharisc Adoraon A Taste Of Heaven Awaits Us In Eucharisc Adoraon! Indeed, Earth is joined to Heaven each me we are united with the Saints and Angels in extolling God, Who, in worship we see, if not with the sight of eyes, then with the eyes of faith. We are called to abide in the Eucharisc Presence of our Lord, like the Saints and Angels do in Heaven, as they behold the glory of God, and sing His Praise! The Saints and Angels wait upon the Lord, and do His Will in all things. Their presence magnifies the Lord. They also intercede for us before the Lord. When we look upon the Sacred Host, we look at Jesus, the Son of God. Do we see Him in all His glory and majesty? Do our lips proclaim His praise? Do our souls magnify the Lord making Him clearer, more in focus, and larger to others around us? Do we place the needs of others before Him? Are we open to the Will of God, and strive for perfecon in our spiritual lives so that we, too, may one day join the company of Saints in Heaven? It is at this moment when we are most inmately in communion with God that we experience a taste of Heaven, a foreshadowing of what it will be like, when, by God s grace, we enter into everlasng life. Indeed, this is the will of My Father, that everyone who looks upon the Son and believes in Him, shall have eternal life. Him I will raise up on the last day. (Jn 6:40). 9 30th Annual Social Acon Summer Instute Join us for the 30th Annual Social Acon Summer Instute on July 17th21st at St. Xavier University for Who is my Neighbor? Discipleship in the Year of Mercy. We will examine issues facing our neighbors including racism, violence, and poverty. Parcipants will come away with resources and tools for use at the Parish level, as well as within other aspects of public life. You may register for single days, or for the full conference. There will be workshops, keynote sessions, liturgies, and one full day for field trips to visit organizaons funded by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Natural Family Planning Panel Natural Family Planning (NFP) is ferlity awareness, which is simply knowledge of a couple s ferlity.
