3 A Note From The Pastor... This weekend is World Mission Sunday, and we will have a second collec on at all of the Masses to support over 1,000 missions across four con nents. All are invited to support the missionary work of the Church. I wanted to remind you about the WORD Among Us: Daily Medita ons For Catholics Booklets at the entrances of Church. These booklets have the Mass readings for each day of the month, a daily medita on, prayers said at Mass, and a few ar cles. We are currently in a trial period whereby our Parish pays $1 per copy, and we are ordering 100 copies per month. The retail price is $5.95 per copy. Please consider taking a copy to help with your daily prayer and medita on, even if you are unable to a end daily Mass. A $1 dona on is requested, but not required. If there is demand, we will con nue to order copies each month for $1 per copy, and we can increase the monthly order if necessary. Please note that we have two Holy Days of Obliga on coming up in the next two months, plus our Annual All Souls Mass. Thursday, November 1st, is All Saints Day, and it is a Holy Day of Obliga on; we will have Masses at: 7AM, 9AM, and 7PM. Friday, November 2nd, is All Souls Day (not a Holy Day of Obliga on), and we will have the usual 8:45AM Mass, plus a Special 7PM Mass Of Remembrance. In addi on, please note that Saturday, December 8th, is a Holy Day of Obliga on this year even though it falls on a Saturday. This means that Catholics must a end Mass on Saturday during the day (or Friday evening), AND on Saturday evening (5PM) or Sunday. I am looking into how we will schedule the Masses to celebrate the Immaculate Concep on. To be clear, the Saturday evening, December 8th, 5PM Mass does not sa sfy the requirement for the Immaculate Concep on; it sa sfies the Sunday requirement. 4 Mass Of Remembrance Friday, November 2nd We extend a special invita on to family members and friends to a end a Memorial Mass for those of Our Lady of Humility Parish Family who have died during the past year. The names of those who have died will be men oned during the Prayer of the Faithful, and each family member will be given a candle in remembrance of their special loved ones. The Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 2nd, at 7PM in the Church. We hope that you will be able to a end, but even if you can t, please know that we will be remembering your loved ones in a special way during this Liturgy of the Eucharist. All Souls Day Friday, November 2nd, is All Souls Day. We will have a Mass Of Remembrance at 7PM on Friday, November 2nd. Prayer Jesus, Dear Savior, On this day we prayerfully remember all of our loved ones who have died. Please give them comfort and hope, and may they be at peace, knowing that they will rest in God s arms eternally. Thank You for our memories of them, and for the good mes we shared. We ask You, please, through their intercessions, to deepen our faith, strengthen our hope, and increase our love that we, too, may someday stand before You, ready to enter Your Holy Kingdom. Amen. Co-Ed Senior Luncheon The next Co-Ed Senior Luncheon will be on Tuesday, November 13th, at 12 Noon in the Parish Center. We will have a Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings. We just need salads and desserts. 7 Our Lady Of Humility Women s Club Change In November s Mee ng Date The November Mee ng of the OLH Women s Club will be held on Thursday, November 8th, at 6PM instead of Thursday, November 1st, which is a Holy Day of Obliga on. Also please note the change in me. It is now at 6PM rather than 6:30PM. Please mark the new date and me on your calendar! Our Lady Of Humility Women s Club Fall Cra Fair SPREAD THE WORD: Our 2018 Fall Cra Fair will be held on the following dates/ mes at Our Lady of Humility s Parish Center: Next Saturday, October 27th, 8AM 6PM Next Sunday, October 28th, 8AM 2PM Cra ers Needed! Our Lady of Humility Women s Club is looking for Cra ers during the Bazaar. At $35.00 for a 10 x 5 space for two days is the opportunity of the century! Our Lady Of Humility Women s Club News As we begin planning our Christmas Bazaar on November 17th and 18th, we are asking ALL PARISHIONERS to please open up your hearts and help us make it successful. We will be arranging Gi Baskets that are raffled off at the Holiday Bazaar. Some of the Baskets raffled off in the past have been a Movie Basket, an Italian Basket, a Cooking Basket, a Spa Basket, and a Gi Card Basket containing over $600 in Gi Cards. Our goal is to have the same Baskets as in the past, and possibly adding a Handyman s Gi Basket and a Pampered Chef Baking Basket. This all depends on the dona ons we receive. Any Thanksgiving/ Christmas items, Gi Cards, and items for our Gi Baskets would be greatly appreciated. We will keep you informed of specific items we need for our Gi Baskets. Please bring your donated items to the Rectory, marked OLH Women s Club Christmas Bazaar. May God con nue to bless you and your families today, tomorrow, and always! Soup Kitchen Do something helpful this Fall. This Thursday, October 25th, is Our Lady of Humility s commitment to provide volunteers to help with the Soup Kitchen at Holy Family Services (the old St. Bartholomew Parish) located at: 914 8th Street, Waukegan. The Soup Kitchen is always the fourth Thursday of every month. Food prepara on begins at 3PM, dinner is served at 5:30PM, followed by clean-up. We are usually done by 7PM. Any me that you can give is greatly appreciated. We are in desperate need of more assistance from our Parishioners on a regular basis. The Co-Ed Seniors Group has scheduled the Christmas Trip to the Fireside Theater this year. On Saturday, December 15th, 2018 Elf The Musical A Christmas Show Based on the beloved holiday film, this hilarious comedy is now a must-see holiday musical. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa s bag of gi s and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be Elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, un l his enormous size, and poor toy-making abili es, cause him to face the truth. This modern day classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner Elf! This show is sure to put you into the Christmas Spirit! This trip will depart promptly at 8:30AM from the South End of the Church/School Parking Lot, and return approximately between 5:30-6PM. Please park on the EAST side of the bus. Thank you.
