JUDE THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH Established Highland Road Baton Rouge, Louisiana (On the Corner of Highland Road and Gardere Lane) The mission of Saint Jude the Apostle Parish is to instill hope in the hearts of all of our brothers and sisters by embracing one another and our diversity with a compassionate and a welcoming spirit, guided by our faith in Jesus Christ and the traditions of our Catholic faith. As a reminder, on All Saints Day (Thursday November 1) during the 6:30pm Mass, we will celebrate the memory of those who have gone before us. In preparation for this night, we are making the following special request: If a loved one of yours from Saint Jude Parish died since November 1 of last year, but the funeral celebration did not take place here at Saint Jude, could you please contact our Parish Office to let us know this. We would like to extend a personal invitation to you and your family to be present for this Mass and to light a memorial candle for your loved one. During any given year, it is possible that someone from our parish will have died and the funeral celebrated elsewhere, but our office not be notified. We request that you contact us as soon as possible if this was the case for your family. Thank you very much. 3 ROSARY RECITAL MINISTRY St. Jude is introducing a new prayer ministry. Join us in reciting the rosary on Wednesdays at 12:30 in the church (Immediately following the Noon Mass) ALL ARE WELCOME Parishioners can participate according to their personal schedules: You may attend when you can, but do not need to commit yourself to weekly attendance. Look for items crafted by our new St. Jude Junior Catholic Daughters also. This is a relaxed and convenient way of shopping for your purchases of holiday and birthday gifts and it will help your Catholic Daughters in its many Christian endeavors. Blessing of the Animals Saturday, October 6 th at 9:00 AM The feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, is usually celebrated on October 4 th. In celebration of the feast day, on Saturday, October 6 th at 9:00 AM, St. Jude will have a Blessing of the Animals service on the deck. We invite everyone to bring their pets to receive a special blessing. Please have all animals contained or secured in some way. Thanks! Campus Coffee - Wednesday, October 10 Interested in learning more about St. Jude School? We are pleased to offer you the opportunity of touring our campus from 9:00-10:30am. 4 Colin Raby, son of Michel and Karla Raby of St. Jude Parish, received his Eagle Scout Award on Sunday September 23 during a ceremony held at the LSU Hilltop Arboretum. In attendance, along with other guests, were Mr. Reginald Brown and Fr. Trey Nelson. Congratulations to Colin and his family on this accomplishment! One Hope! One Faith! One Family! Thank you to all parishioners who have completed and submitted your Commitment Card to the church. As a reminder, all commitments need to be submitted to the church no later than October 14 in order to be accounted for in the final Summary Report. Please complete and submit your card to the church even if you are unable to make a change to your current level of giving. For those registered parishioners not currently supporting the church with regular offertory gifts, please consider a monthly gift to support the needs of our parish. Public Rosary Help the Knights of Columbus continue their excellent work with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities by donating to their annual Tootsie Roll Drive during the weekend of October 6th & 7th. All proceeds go directly toward helping God s special children. The St. Jude KC Council thanks all who have contributed to this very worthy cause in the past. Why Settle for a "Good Marriage...
