Our Lady of Peace Church & Shrine Mission Statement Our Lady of Peace is a church and shrine dedicated to the greater glory of God and the salvation of souls. It is a place of prayer & pilgrimage with: Perpetual adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary Frequent celebration of the Sacraments, particularly the Eucharist and Reconciliation Integrated formation of the person (spiritual, moral, intellectual and emotional)

2 Page 2 Our Lady of Peace April 12, 2015 Dear Parishioners, FROM OUR PASTOR One of the most remarkable aspects of the message of the Divine Mercy is the loving invita on of our Lord to approach the tribunal of Mercy, i.e., the Sacrament of Confession, in order to drink copiously from the Fountain of Life. Truly, it is my prayerful and ardent desire that today you will immerse yourself en rely in God s Mercy, with great trust [1602] and go to receive God s forgiveness in this Sacrament. Therefore, I d like to share with you some excerpts of our Lord s message to St. Faus na to encourage you to approach the Sacrament of Reconcilia on and to s r greater trust in your soul, because as Jesus Himself said: If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity. [1602] Here is what our Lord says: My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender Mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. [699] Just as you prepare in My presence, so also you make your confession before Me. The person of the priest is, for Me, only a screen. Never analyze what sort of a priest it is that I am making use of; open your soul in confession as you would to Me, and I will fill it with My light. [1725] Tell him everything and reveal your soul to him as you do before Me. Do not fear anything. It is to keep you in peace that I place this priest between your soul and Myself. The words he will speak to you are My words. Reveal to him your soul s greatest secrets, I will give him light to know your soul. [232] When you go to confession, to this fountain of My mercy, the Blood and Water which came forth from My Heart always flows down upon your soul and ennobles it. Every me you go to confession, immerse yourself en rely in My mercy, with great trust, so that I may pour the bounty of My grace upon your soul. When you approach the confessional, know this, that I Myself am wai ng there for you. I am only hidden by the priest, but I myself act in your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy. Tell souls that from this fount of mercy souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust. [1602] I desire trust from My creatures. Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful souls have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins that there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurable depths of My mercy. [1059] Be not afraid of your Savior; O sinful soul. I make the first move to come to you, for I know that by yourself you are unable to li yourself to me. Child, do not run away from your Father; be willing to talk openly with your God of mercy who wants to speak words of pardon and lavish his graces on you. How dear your soul is to Me! I have inscribed your name upon My hand; you are engraved as a deep wound in My Heart. [1485] Confession is an act of honesty and courage -an act of entrus ng ourselves, beyond sin, to the mercy of a loving and forgiving God....To those who have been far away from the sacrament of reconcilia on and forgiving love, I make this appeal: come back to this source of grace; do not be afraid! 5 Divine Mercy Sunday Page 5 Annual Diocesan Appeal 2015 As the 2015 Annual Diocesan Appeal comes to an end, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of those who have so generously supported our parish and our local Church. As a community, we were all Called to do God s Work, Together in Christ, and through His grace and with your prayers, we have exceeded our goal! To date, 62% of our parishioners have contributed towards our goal of $250,877. We have exceeded our goal by over $70,693 which will be rebated by the Diocese back to Our Lady of Peace at the end of the year. The Diocese of San Jose supports many programs and services that our parish benefits from, and this is our once-ayear opportunity to show the Diocese OUR support. We are very grateful for the generosity of all our parishioners, and to those who prayerfully supported this ADA. Please continue to pray throughout the year so that the pledges are 100% fulfilled. We are about 70% of the way there! Again, thank you all for your help in this most important parishwide endeavor by faithfully walking with Christ and listening to His call to share our gifts with others. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: A Diocesan volunteer must fill out and application first, be interviewed, and then fingerprinted ($20), and take the Safe Environment class online (approx. 1 hour). Receptionist: A Saturday receptionist for 1-2 times a months (maybe oncall if possible) on Saturdays from 9am-1pm. Administrative Assistant Part-Time 15hours/week (3 hours a day) - Provide secretarial and related office services for members of the parish staff and various other committees and boards - Publishing the parish bulletin and interfacing with parish group leaders and co-workers for facilitating events - Provide back up to the receptionist as needed to greet and refer visitors, schedule appointments, process mail, etc. Part-time position requires ability to operate a multi-line telephone system, have excellent customer service skills and be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill of programs in the MS Office suite in order to support our clergy and staff. Three years of clerical experience and excellent spoken and written English skills are required. Wedding Coordinator Hours Vary Under the supervision of the Office Manager, under the guidelines established by the Pastor, this position assists couples in the preparation for and planning of their weddings while ensuring respectful use of the church. The coordinator works with the couple and officiating priests for signatures/processing of the Wedding and Civil Certificates.. All resumes must be ed to Karen Ruiz at kruiz@dsj.org.
