4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is May 10, 2015 and the Sixth Sunday of Easter. Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms! The Responsorial Psalm is, The Lord has revealed to the nations His saving power. (Psalm 98:1,2-3,3-4). The Gospel according to St. John is the command to love one another. Congratulations to all of our 1st Communicants and their families. We had 67 students from our Parish this year. Remember that this Thursday is the Feast of the Ascension. TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS (Author Unknown) On Mother's Day, pay your most humble tribute to mom! Mother is everything to us when we are small... our lives revolve around her. For everything we need, we call mom. To protect us from all dangers, we want her around. To take us outside, we open up our arms. To kiss away our wounds, we run to her. And for a warm hug and love, we look for her. She is the focal point of our lives. On Mother s Day, say thanks to your mom! There is simply no way we can ever really thank mom for all she has done for us. She is the one who will sit up with us all night when we are sick, praying to God to make us well and be ever ready to bear the pain. She is the one who gets up to make us breakfast and endure our tantrums. Mothers are the ones who are forever complaining that we are not eating enough or not eating right. They worry about our exams, and they take pains to complete our school projects, leaving all their own work behind. On Mother s Day, apologize to your mom! Mothers are the ones we sometimes put our blame on if we fail. We get upset if she doesn't praise us. Isn't it hard to look back and remember the teenage temper tantrums we had? It was so easy to be demanding and to take Mom's love for granted. Mother's Day is the right time to say you are sorry for all we did to hurt her. Celebrate Mother's Day with your mom! Mother's Day is the perfect day to celebrate the joys of having a mother. It is the time to make amends for not being able to spend more time with her. Try and make all efforts to give Mom a perfect day. Think about her likes and dislikes and ideas, and celebrate accordingly. Try and make her day hassle free. Pamper her a little on this special, day and give her a warm hug and big kiss for all she has done and will continue to do for you. Along with games, refreshments, a piñata rematch, and bingo, the Picnic Team is planning a craft fair for parishioners to sell their wares. We are asking a contribution of $25 for each entry and that you bring your own table. You will receive $5 back in food coupons the day of the picnic. We will accept a limited amount of crafters on a first come, first served basis. Come into the office to complete an application. We are also seeking prize donations for our children s games, such as bubbles, crayons, puzzles, coloring books, markers, play-doh and chalk. You may bring your donations to the Parish Office. 6 The 2nd Grade school parents recently hosted a brunch in honor of their First Communicants. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage from our friends at The Egg & I and a gorgeous cake made by parent, Nicole Hillegonds. The families would like to extend a special thank you to 2nd Grade teacher Ms. Rebecca Steigerwald for shepherding the children on their journey to First Holy Eucharist. GraFFiti Youth Group As many of you know, I recently spent a weekend at a Lock-In with our GraFFiti Youth Group. We met and surpassed our $2000 goal through the generous donations of the St. Ann parishioners, so thank you very much! YOUR donations are what make the real difference in the lives of so many! I received information from World Vision about the earthquake in Nepal while we were on our Lock-In, and that they already had 200 volunteers at the site helping families there. Your donations make that possible, so thanks again! We are also greatly appreciative to Fr. Bill McFarlane and Mrs. Bonnie Hall for allowing us to use the school and supporting our efforts in this event. Erin Meegan-Polanski, who made sure our services were rewarded in the end with a fabulous feast, along with other parents who helped gather our food: the Aherns, the Farlows, and DiGrispinos. It was delicious and most appreciated! Several of these parents also joined us for a few hours during our Lock-In and helped wherever they were needed. Thanks to those adults who stayed with us throughout the event: Jane Farlow, Ken Kot, Katy Kot, Monica Scheppe, Paul Scheppe, and Diane Herrera. I know that this is a big sacrifice, but oh so worth it in the end! You are wonderful examples for our youth! I also want to thank my mom, Gramma Merk, for donating the t-shirts and painting supplies that we used to create our own Famine weekend t-shirts! As our pictures show, they came out terrific! Thank you Chuck Murach for checking in on us this weekend and keeping us warm at night. A special thanks to Mancino s, Fr. Bill, and Smart Move Heating & Air Conditioning for donating much of the food. Please make sure you patronize these establishments and when you do, mention how grateful we at St. Ann's are for their support! Finally, thanks to our parishioners for their monetary donations and prayerful support. I know your prayers and well wishes helped me tremendously during the 30 Hour Famine weekend. And thanks to World Vision and their staff members; they too prayerfully supported us, provided us with the tools to run such an amazing program, and they will wisely use our donations to help feed, clothe, provide loans for business ventures, and educate families and their children in poverty stricken regions throughout the world.
