4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is May 22, 2016 and the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Responsorial Psalm is, O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8:4-5,6-7,8-9) In the Gospel according to St. John, Jesus says to His disciples: I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth will guide you to truth. NATIONAL FRIENDSHIP WEEK (Author Unknown) A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the four pups and set about nailing it to a post on the end of his yard. As he was driving in the last nail, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of a little boy. Mister, he said, I want to buy one of your puppies. Well, said the farmer. These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money. The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. I've got 39 cents. Is that enough for a look? Sure said the farmer. With that, he let out a whistle. Here, Dolly! he called. Out of the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then it hobbled toward the others. I want that one, the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer said, You don't want that one, he'll never be able to run. With that, the little boy stepped back and reached down and rolled up his pant leg. In doing so, he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg, attached to a specially made shoe. Looking back at the farmer, he said, You see sir, I don't run too well myself. With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. He carefully handed it to the boy. How much? he asked. No charge, answered the farmer. There's no charge for love... The world is full of people who need someone to just understand. God loves us one and all and asks us to be His hands and feet in the world. Youth members of the Parish serve the congregation by assisting the priest during weekend and special Masses, including baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Altar servers receive training and can designate which Masses they can serve. The respect and reverence that I have experienced with our altar servers really impresses me, but I have also heard that from parishioners at Masses, says Cindy. The altar servers are treated to a pizza party once a year to thank them for their service. If you are interested in becoming an altar server, please call the Parish Office at St. Ann now accepts online contributions through Give Central. 6 May 22, 2016 Dear St. Ann Parish Family, God Bless the St. Ann School Class of They came to us as little children, and they leave our classrooms as young adults with a future full of hope. On Thursday night we will graduate our 65 th eighth grade class. Outside my office hangs a photograph of the first graduating class from 1951; I now will add this class photograph next to it as the most recent class to achieve its goal of completing their grammar school studies. I am proud of each of these students. Please join me in congratulating their achievement and giving glory to God for their success in growing in their faith and achieving this milestone in their life. We congratulate their parents as well for their love and support. Congratulations, First Communicants! One of the most beautiful things in the world to witness is a child receiving Jesus Body and Precious Blood for the first time through the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Our second grade class along with our second grade Religious Ed. friends made their First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 14. Many of us remember that moment in our lives, who was with us, and how we felt. May God bless all of our little ones on receiving Jesus, and in turn being received by Him. End of the Year Festivities We ll close out our year with finishing units of study, kickball games, picnics, ice-cream socials, and Mass. In a few short weeks, we ll empty desks and lockers and wish each other a happy summer. Where has the year gone? We are excited for summer but wish to finish strong first. I d like to thank all of our students for their hard work and contagious smiles, our supportive parents, and incredible faculty, and Fr. Bill for his support of our school. I would also like to thank you, Parishioner Friends, for your prayers and financial support of your parish school. Together, we are St. Ann s! Office Summer Hours My faithful administrative assistant, Mrs. Summerrise, and I will be on-hand throughout the summer preparing the way for another fantastic school year: The school office will be open daily to the public from 9-noon, with the exception of the week of July 4 when the office will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday week. Roughrider Moments 6 We were so excited to award merit scholarships this year at St. Ann School! Our winners (one from each grade, with a tie in Kindergarten) will each receive $500 toward their tuition.
