4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time and Valentine's Day weekend. The Responsorial Psalm is, I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble, and you fill me with the joy of salvation. (Psalm 32:1-2, 5,11) Let's dare to be ourselves, for we do that better than anyone else. (Shirley Briggs) Sometimes it's hard to just let life unfold, but really it does so everyday if you just let it flow. Everyone has good and bad days and some outweigh the others, but in the end they probably do balance. Life happens over time. I look at our youth, and I am encouraged when I see, with my own eyes, a young person doing something good or paying it forward. It can be simple, like a smile or an encouraging word, or it can really be extending themselves to one another. It shows in our youth stepping up to be Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers and helpers with the Giving Tree, Cookie Walk etc. I had to sub for a 5 th grade Monday class and saw how the Catechist had taught them to get the books, set up the room and share ideas of what is right with the world, and what they are thankful for in their daily lives. It was so inspiring. At ten years old, they just wanted to let me see all they were learning about God and their faith and how they incorporate these values into their daily living. Of course, they thought I was only 45, and so I know this class will all get As! It was a tribute to their Catechist and their parents. I see so many fruitful things in our Religious Ed students, staff and Catechists, and if they take what they learn here at St. Ann's, they can't help but make our world a better, safer and more blessed place. Good job to all who are a part of this development. Parents are so hurried, running between jobs, home, games, school for both students and themselves, helping elderly family members and friends, and yet they pull together and form a family, school, church and great examples of God's hands and heart in our world today. You re doing a wonderful, faith-filled job, oh good and faithful servants, and once in awhile you deserve a BIG PAT on the back...thanks for all you do in little and big ways. In order to be a volunteer, coach, Religious Ed. instructor, Scout leader, field trip chaperone, lunch room helper or serve in any other capacity with children present, you need to be Virtus trained and complete a background check with the Archdiocese. You only need to do this once, and it is recommended that all new school parents take care of the requirements as soon as possible.
