6 February 7-8, 2015 Dear St. Ann Parish Family, The Results Are In In November, our eighth graders took the ACT Aspire Achievement Test along with all of the eighth graders in the Archdiocese. This ACT test is aligned to College and Career Readiness Standards; therefore it is aligned to more rigorous academic standards that require students to respond to complex questions. The results of the test arrived recently. I met with our eighth graders to share with them their individual results as well as how they performed on the test as a class. The majority of the students agreed that this particular test, the ACT Aspire, was much more difficult than their high school placement examination. With great pride, I am happy to report that The St. Ann Class of 2015 performed very, well. Specifically, our students scored above average in all subject areas tested, which included reading, English, science, mathematics, and writing. Congratulations to our students, their parents, and our teachers on an outstanding outcome. Catholic Schools Week a Success What a delightful week we had celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Our Open Houses were well attended. The week was filled with several events showcasing our pride in Catholic education. We are so blessed. On the final day of the week, ten students participated as Principals for Day. Armed with clipboards, the principals observed classrooms, left feedback for the teacher and students, and met with me (their assistant principal for the day) to focus on specific important objectives. We also discussed our upcoming Lenten goals. Seeing Double This Friday is Twin Day sponsored by our Student Council. Students are invited to dress as twins, triplets, quadruplets, etc. Daddy/Daughter Dance On Friday night, we ll host our first Daddy/Daughter Dance, sponsored by our awesome Home and School Association. Registration for Year Has Begun Come check us out. We d love to show you around and discuss how your child(ren) can receive the gift of a Catholic education rooted in faith, academic excellence, and service. In order to be a volunteer, coach, Religious Ed. instructor, Scout leader, field trip chaperone, lunch room helper or serve in any other capacity with children present, you need to be Virtus trained and complete a background check with the Archdiocese. Every year, 5th Grade boys basketball teams from all over Lansing come together for this exciting tournament. 5th Grade girls compete in free-throw contests at half-time. Come on out and cheer your school on to victory! All games are played at Memorial Junior High School, 2/12-14, and the Championship Game will be Thursday 2/19/15. In conjunction with the tourney, St. Ann s will also participate in a Food Drive to benefit the Lansing Food Pantry. If you d like to contribute, please send your non-perishable items into school or the parish office. Thank you!

7 Supper Club St. Ann Tuesday, February 17 Schoop s Hamburgers 215 Ridge Road, Munster Live it up before Lent begins at our annual Schoop s Fat Tuesday Supper Club. Come in any time between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., turn in the St. Ann voucher when you order, and our friends at Schoop s will donate back 15% of all St. Ann supporters dine-in and carryout purchases! Tickets are available in the School and Parish Offices; please make checks payable to St. Ann. Tickets will not be available at the door. FMI, HELP WAN TED! We re seeking a director for St. Ann Vacation Bible School. It is time to pass the baton to someone new and full of energy and enthusiasm! The dates this year are June 22-25, 2015 (Monday thru Thursday). We meet from 9 am. until noon, with a closing program and a picnic following our regular class on the last day. Filled with class time, art time, game time, singing time and snack time, the days fly by. The total commitment for the week is 50 hours, and the rewards are everlasting. If you would like to volunteer to head up this fun ministry, please call Mrs. A (Barb) at the Parish office at or I will walk you though the process.
