4 Passion The contrast between the processional reading in today s liturgy and the proclamation of the Passion is striking. We are given a glimpse of how profoundly the word of God is fulfilled in Jesus. First he must be hailed as the Messiah, the One who is to come. He must be acknowledged by all, though they do not know what they are saying. They think he is the promised king, a worldly king of the Jews who will free them from the Roman occupation. They do not yet understand, even the disciples, exactly where this triumphal procession is leading. In our lives, we too do not know where we are going. It is in faith that we can follow Christ wherever he may lead us, trusting that death is not the end, nor evil the victor. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is March 25, 2018: Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord. The Responsorial Psalm is, My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? (Psalm 22:8-9,17-18,19-20) What barriers have been removed from your life? What veils still need to be removed? SIX LITTLE STORIES (Unknown) 1. The villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer, all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella. That's FAITH. 2. When you throw babies in the air, they laugh because they know you will catch them. Please place your donations in the designated bin in the Narthex. The hunt will take place immediately following the Easter Basket Blessing on Holy Saturday, March 31. All are welcome to meet on the school lawn to join in the fun. 8 You are Invited to Holy Week at St. Ann Holy Thursday Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, when He established the sacrament of Holy Communion prior to His arrest and crucifixion. It also commemorates His institution of the priesthood. Holy Thursday Mass will be at 7:00 p.m. with Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until Midnight, where we are invited to spend time in the presence of the Eucharist just as the Disciples kept a vigil with Christ. Good Friday On Good Friday, we will commemorate the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ at 3:00 p.m. in the with a service that includes the Veneration of the Cross. Traditionally, there is no Mass and no celebration of the Eucharist. bells are silent. Altars are left bare. The solemn, muted atmosphere is preserved until the Easter Vigil. The events of Good Friday are observed in the 14-step Stations of the Cross that will be presented by GraFFiti Youth Group in shadow vignettes at 7:00 p.m. in the. Many of us have been attending Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent, but the Shadow Stations are a completely different experience invite the whole family! Holy Saturday Bring your Easter baskets and the food that will be prepared for your Easter meal to a special blessing that will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Immediately following the Basket Blessing, all children through age 10 (4th grade) are invited to participate in our annual Easter Egg Hunt on the parish grounds. The Easter Vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m., during which we will welcome our RCIA and RCIY candidates into the church with the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, and also celebrate the Easter Vigil Mass. Easter Sunday Come celebrate Jesus triumphant resurrection from the dead at 8:30 or 10:30 a.m. Mass!
