The group setting helps participants find comfort, courage, and support from others also grieving. The holidays can be especially difficult for those experiencing loss in their lives, so group members will share their grief and find ways to help them through this time of year. 6 sas Veterans day,-- --/prayer service Saint Ann School held a prayer service to honor Veterans and thank them for their service on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 1:30pm in the Church. The service began with students reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the National Anthem. Father Bill opened with a welcoming prayer and a Gospel passage followed by a homily to recognize our veterans and show our gratitude. We then said prayers of intercession for the veterans, and Mrs. Hess read a list of veterans from the parish. Next, students made presentations by grade level to address: What is Veterans Day? The History of Veterans Day How is Veterans Day Celebrated? Who is honored on Veterans Day? Our Kindergarteners and First Graders held up posters across the altar to thank all veterans. Principal Rojas led an all-school poem, and students ended the service by singing God Bless America. The event was constructed to generate awareness about how important veterans are, and we wanted to express how we value the service they provide to us. We are thankful to veterans for our freedom and for keeping us safe! We re very proud of ALL of our students at St. Ann School! This is very important, as our volunteers will then sort them for pickup. Please note: We can only accept your gift AT CHURCH the weekend of December 2 and 3 only, and not before. So while you re planning your holiday baking, won t you please set aside a few dozen for us? Donations can be dropped off on December 9 in the Narthex between 2:00 & 4:00 p.m. or brought in before any Mass. This year s raffle will be a 50/50 Split the Pot, with tickets at $1 each or six for $5. We are also in need of people to help after Masses selling cookies & raffle tickets. This year we are introducing something new. We will be asking the students at St. Ann School and Religious Education to create ornament chains which we will link together on the tree to decorate it. We want the students to talk with their families and agree on a prayer to put on the chain, and then they can include their family name and decorate it. The prayer can be about family, friends or the community. We will also have these chains available to Parish families who do not have children in our school or religious education programs. Your family can pick one up after Masses November 18 and 19 and bring them back November 25 & 26. Please take only one per family as this is a family project.
