This offers an opportunity for the faithful to spend time in quiet prayer before Christ Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. There always must be at least one person present when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed; if you are able to give a scheduled hour, either on a regular basis or as an occasional substitute, please call Larry at (302) Thank you for your devotion to our Lord. THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS Here at St. Peter the Apostle and Holy Spirit Church are fortunate to have a core-group of volunteers who share their time and talents (many have full time jobs and busy careers which make their time even more valuable to us). Volunteers are vital to the success of any organization, without them, we would be unable to accomplish many of the services the church provides. ST. PETER SCHOOL SCRIP PROGRAM We are now participating in a program called Scrip fundraising. It works like this: Families in our school and parish order gift cards at face value, and the school buys gift cards from a scrip supplier for a lesser amount. St. Peter keeps the difference for our local scholarship fund. We will accumulate paid orders on the 10 th and 25 th of each month, place the order, and send orders home a few days later. For example, let s say that you want to purchase a Walgreen s gift card/dunkin Donuts gift card for $25. You would send a check or cash for $25 in an envelope by the 10 th or 25 th and indicate the card(s) you want to purchase. The school would place the order and then you can drop off at the school (or parish office) and we would notify you when your order arrives. This program is in effect now, so feel free to place an order. Please look how generous many the rebate percentages are for every day retailers. This is a very easy way for a portion of your everyday purchases to help our school. The money helps support parishes in their spiritual ministry, such as training of lectors and Eucharistic ministers for Mass; Catholic schools and parish-based religious education programs; initial and continuing spiritual formation of deacons, and ministry to youth and young adults. It also supports pro-life ministry; ministry to Hispanic and to Black Catholics, and Catholic Charities programs that provide food and clothing to those in need and help people through unexpected hardships and day-to-day challenges. The first Sunday 7:30AM Mass of each month is designated Sodality Sunday, after which we have a brief ten minute session for the Litany, special prayers/any announcements. HOLY SPIRIT S SODALITY OF THE BLESSED MOTHER NEXT MEETING: MAY 7 The Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality organization is composed of women in Holy Spirit parish who meet monthly. The group enhances the spiritual development of each member, participates in church activities (such as fundraising trips, dinners, etc.) and follows the direction of our pastor when called upon. The Sodality has been in existence since the founding of Holy Spirit Parish. New members are always welcome! PETER CHURCH *ORGAN RESTORATION FUND The historic organ, placed in our church in 1883, is quite an incredible and unique instrument. Not long ago, two Silent Auction/Dinner fundraisers were held to raise money for the organ restoration. With the three fundraisers, and parishioner donations in memorial of departed loved ones; we have raised $55, to date! Thank you to all who have donated in the past, and to those families who have so generously designated their loved ones memorial donations to the fund. As we continue to raise funds these donations are greatly appreciated. CANTORS (DESPERATELY) NEEDED Michael McHugh, St. Peter the Apostle Choir Director, is seeking individuals to cantor at Saturday evening and/or Sunday Mass. ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU, FROM ST. PETER S ST. PATRICK SOCIETY, TO ALL WHO VOLUNTEERED THEIR TALENTS AND TIME AT THE ANNUAL IRISH BREAKFAST! A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL! ST. PETER the APOSTLE CEMETERY GUIDELINES April November During the cemetery grasscutting season, April through November, we ask that you place [only] fresh flowers on cemetery plots, in order for our landscapers to maintain our cemetery grounds. Items are disposed of after one week in order to keep the cemetery properly groomed. The following are prohibited on the grass, between April and November: potted plants, artificial flowers, flags, ornamental items such as statues, solar lights and balloons. Artificial flowers/ornaments are permitted one week before and one week after the following holidays only: Mother s Day, Father s Day and Memorial Day. If items are not removed by family within the twoweek period, they will be disposed of by maintenance personnel. We thank you for you cooperation.
