The harvest is great but the laborers are few. Pray the Lord of the harvest to send more laborers into the Harvest. THE CALL OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD The Twenty-third Psalm, today s responsorial psalm, is arguably the best known of all the psalms. The line that reads Even though I walk in the dark valley / I fear no evil; for you are at my side / with your rod and your staff / that give me courage (Psalm 23:4) connects this week s scriptures to the wonderful story of the road to Emmaus, which we heard last week. The Lord Jesus, our Good Shepherd, is constantly at our side. He calls us each by name, beckoning us into a deeper relationship with him. That call, issued to each of us at the moment of our baptism, carries with it the promise of the Good Shepherd: I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Call for more information. SENIOR MASS: All graduating Seniors from our parish are invited to attend a special Mass in their honor on Sunday, May 21 at 6:00 pm. We are asking for volunteers to take up the offertory gifts, lectors and altar servers. Call Julie or Priscilla at or VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held the week of June More information to follow. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICA- TIONS are now available for graduating high school seniors who have a mother or guardian who is an active member in Altar and Rosary Society. Two scholarships will be awarded to the selected applicants. Applications can be picked up at the Parish Office or in the Church foyer. Deadline is May 7th. ATTENTION 2017 ALTAR SERVER GRADUATES The Sean Riley College Scholarship Will be awarded to a 2017 Altar Server Graduate. Please pick up an application at the Parish Office and return it filled out by May 7th. THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 7290 is accepting applications for two college scholarships. Applicants must be a child, grandchild, or legal dependent of an ACTIVE K.C member and limited to High School Seniors. Contact Gabriel Chapa for applications. Application deadline is May 16, 2017

Will you make a special effort to ask the Lord for more vocations to priesthood and religious life? Pray for the priests who have ministered to you throughout your life, both living and dead. Keep our parish priests in your prayers throughout the week. Encourage your children, grandchildren, or other young people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious brother or sister. Pray a rosary for more young men and women in our diocese to respond to God s call. JOIN THE INVISIBLE MONASTERY Pledge to pray for vocations at the web site, It was inspired by a Vatican document urging the faithful to organize an invisible monastery in which many persons, day and night, are committed to continuous prayer for priestly vocations. 5 Fourth Sunday of Easter Page 5 QUALITY, CATHOLIC ADULT FORMATION CLASSES THROUGH CDU The Diocese of Corpus Christi is partnering with Catholic Distance University (CDU) to provide high-quality online noncredit courses and seminars for general adult formation in any number of topics of interest. As a subsidy partner, all adults of the Diocese of Corpus Christi are eligible to take any non-credit seminar or independent study course at a discounted tuition rate of $30 each. (Registration begins October 1, 2016) Click on Partner- You may also find the Diocese of Corpus Christi CDU webpage at cdu.edu. ships or go to Continuing Ed and click on Groups Subsidy Partners. The St. Paul School of Catechesis (SPSC) is part of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis. Its responsibilities include the formation of parish catechetical leaders, parish catechists and all those seeking ministerial leadership in the diocese. The formation includes those catechists in Catholic schools. Participants will engage in a systematic catechetical curriculum which includes a skill course for their particular area of ministry, while working toward being commissioned to represent the diocese as a ministerial leader. The SPSC is also responsible for maintaining a resource library as a parish resource for all areas of catechesis. MISSION From the very beginning, the Catholic Church has considered catechesis a primary task based on the final command which the Lord Jesus gave to His apostles, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you (Mt 28: 19-20). With this in mind, the primary purpose of the St. Paul School of Catechesis is threefold: To lead people to an intimate communion with Jesus Christ; To prepare local ecclesial ministers in areas such as catechesis and youth ministry among others To facilitate adult faith formation Congratulations to our 50th anniversary t-shirt design winner, Judy Griffin! Her design is posted at all three doors of the church. Thank you to all who submitted designs. There were quite a few really good ones, and it was very hard to choose. The order form and deadline for the t-shirt is inserted in today s bulletin. Please place all forms and payment in an envelope and place in next week s collection or bring by the parish office.
