If you re going to be away this summer, you can place your weekly envelopes in the Sunday collection or leave them at the Parish Office before you go or upon your return. Another option is to visit and automate your contributions either through a regularly scheduled direct withdrawal or a credit card transaction. Just remember that individual envelopes still need to be turned in physically before the weekly drawings if you intend to participate. Safe travels to all of our parishioners and loved ones this summer, and please don t forget about us! We rely greatly on your support and often have difficulty making ends meet when summer Mass attendance declines due to vacations and other commitments. 3

4 Are you a parent, grandparent, relative or friend of St. Ann s who is interested in helping our children ages 18 and under in any way? In order to be a volunteer, coach, Religious Ed. instructor, Scout leader, field trip chaperone, lunch room helper or serve in any other capacity with children present, you need to be Virtus trained and complete a background check with the Archdiocese. You only need to take the training once, but you must be present for the full three hours to be certified. Please, no children under the age of 18. UPCOMING VIRTUS TRAINING SESSION AT ST. We have been listening to Saint Mark s Gospel during this liturgical year (Year B). Today we begin to hear a long section from John s Gospel, starting with the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. This miracle story is a prelude to the Lord s statements that we will begin hearing in a few weeks, in which Jesus refers to himself as the bread of life. Each week we witness a miracle at Mass. We do not see a multiplication of loaves before us. What our eyes of faith allow us to see is the miracle of the transformation of common elements bread and wine into the Lord s Body and Blood. Once we have received the Lord, the multiplication begins, for in the Eucharist we are strengthened to multiply our efforts to feed the poor, shelter the homeless, and bring comfort to the despairing. We had a delightful evening with delicious food and lively conversation. Call the Parish office FMI, Our SPRED Ministry is in need of adult volunteers (21 and older) in order to continue at St. Ann Church. Many of our current SPRED volunteers are retiring and need others to take their places in continuing this faith community. Parishioners with intellectual and developmental disabilities and learning problems from the age of six to well into their 80s are served through various Archdiocese SPRED programs. At St. Ann, we serve adult residents from LARC ages 22 and older. Each volunteer is paired with a friend so they learn from each other, and experience joy, laughter, prayer, hope, and fellowship. Volunteers help their friends become more aware of the presence of God in their lives through a specialized program. No prior experience is needed and training is provided. The group meets September to June.
