4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is January 22, 2017 and the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Responsorial Psalm is, The Lord is my light and my salvation. (Psalm 27:1, 4, (1a). GRANDCHILDREN OBSERVATIONS (Author Unknown) 1. She was in the bathroom, watching me put on my make-up, and she observed that I had forgotten to kiss the toilet paper good-bye. 2. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like. We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked blueberries in the woods. The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last, she said, I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner. 3. A little boy was diligently pounding away on his grandfather's word processor. He told him he was writing a story. What's it about? Grandad asked. I don't know, the boy replied. I can't read. 4. Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good things, but I don't get to see him enough to get as smart as him! 5. A six-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. Oh, he said, she lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go and get her. Then, when the visit is over, we take her back to the airport. 6. When a grandson asked how old I was, I teasingly replied, I'm not sure. Look in your shirt Grandpa, he advised. Mine says I'm 4 to 6. Do something fun! Be happy and have a great day! Remember, it is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. Today is the oldest you've ever been, yet the youngest you'll ever be, so enjoy this day. It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived. Live well and thank God for all of His many blessings. Pray and meditate. We collected the 500 lbs. of plastic caps, tops, and lids needed to make our Buddy Bench. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all who participated: our RE and school students and teachers who learned about recycling as they sorted, everyone who came out to help us sort last weekend, and all of you who have been saving and contributing caps for all these months. You may now go back to recycling them at home because we are ready to proceed! Our next step is transporting the caps down to Evansville, Indiana and trading them in for our 8 foot Buddy Bench. Do you have a truck that could handle that? Would you be willing to make the drive? We will provide gas and meal money to whomever volunteers.
