4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is April 10, 2016 and the Third Sunday of Easter. The Responsorial Psalm is, I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me. (Psalm 30:2,4,5-6,11-12,13) SOMEONE HAS WRITTEN THESE BEAUTIFUL WORDS: (Authors Unknown) Prayer is not a spare wheel that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a steering wheel that directs that right path throughout the journey. So why is a car's windshield so large and the rear view mirror so small? Because our past is not as important as our future, so look ahead and move on. All things in life are temporary. If it s going well, enjoy it because that won't last long. If it s going badly, don't worry, that won't last long either. Often, when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says: relax sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end! A blind person asked St. Anthony, Can there be anything worse that losing eye sight? He replied, Yes, losing your vision! When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you. Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles; it takes away today's peace. Remember family is where life begins and love never ends. God changes caterpillars into butterflies, sand into pearls and coal into diamonds using time and pressure. He's working on you too. (Rick Warren) Have a blessed week and pray often. God is good. We would also like to extend the invitation to our friends who are vendors of products such as jewelry, home, or food products. Again, the craft and vendor area will be outside, and you are asked to bring your own table. We do not have electricity available. The entry fee remains $25 for parishioners and $35 for non-parishioners. Each crafter/vendor will receive $5 back in food coupons the day of the picnic. Application forms are available in the Parish Office or by calling Debbie Bona at ext. 43.

Amen, Amen, I say to you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. John 3:5. The Baptism team, headed by Tracy and Jim Vrab, helps prepare parents spiritually for the Christening of their children. Tracy explains, God s word says raise up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Baptism is the first step on that journey. Jim agrees and further states, As parents, there is no greater calling than to teach our children about Jesus. Jim and Tracy also assist during the Baptism ceremony. Parents interested in having their children baptized at St. Ann can call the Parish Office at and refer to the Baptism information pamphlet available in the Ministry 411 Center in the Narthex. Baptisms take place in the Church on scheduled Sundays immediately following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. 6 April 10, 2016 Dear St. Ann Parish Family, Happy spring, Friends! Although the daffodils had to endure a bit of snow, and the poor robins looked a bit confused by recent sideway snowflakes, we know that God is good every day in every way. Warmer weather is coming, and the joy of the Risen Christ is in our hearts. Grade Two Family Mass Thank you to Ms. Steigerwald s second grade class members who are helping out with today s 10:30 a.m. Family Mass. Her class, as well as our second grade friends in Religious Ed., will soon be making their First Reconciliation. Please pray for these young students. Testing, Testing Students in grades 3-8 will be taking the ACT Aspire Achievement Test this week. Students will be given tests in reading, mathematics, English, and writing, as well as science. After-School Activities Just because it s 2:30 p.m., it s not time to leave school! Fun with our friends continues! We re in the process of adding several after-school activities based on our students extra-curricular interests. Our Chess Wizards program just wrapped up and will return in the fall and next spring. I marveled at kindergarteners defeating junior high students as they played the ancient game of kings. We are now kicking off afterschool art classes for students age 4 through 8 th grade. Three separate sessions Pre-K, grades K-6, and grades 7-8 are all available to sign-up for our St. Ann Students for a small fee. Young Rembrandts of Northwest Indiana will teach the classes for one hour after school right here in the art room. Classes begin the week of April 18. Registration can be taken online or over the phone. I am happy to report that Chipotle recently sent us a check for $249.58, and Kacey s sent us $100 all in the name of Supper Club. If you have a student going into pre-kindergarten, you will not want to miss our Pre- K Round-up Open House on Tuesday, April 19 from 7-8 p.m. Be sure to bring your future Roughrider; enter through the Pre-K door just across from the rectory (Fr. Remaining sessions of our Adult Edition meet on Thursdays April 14, April 21, and April 28 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Parish Office. The group setting helps participants find comfort, courage, and support with others also grieving. Group sessions are focused on helping participants understand the grief process, process their grief, use support systems, and move forward emotionally.
