4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is January 8, 2017 and The Epiphany of the Lord. The Responsorial Psalm is Lord, every nation on earth will adore You. (Psalm 72:1-2,7-8,10-11,12-13) I would rather think of life as a good book. The further you get into it, the more it begins to come together and make sense. (Rabbi Harold S. Kushner) Like Mark Twain said, The two most important days of your life are when you are born and when you figure out why. Life is full of wonderful surprises; you just have to be open to them, and what a way to open the New Year. HUNTING ON SUNDAY (author unknown) I had everything planned and had told my wife I would not be going to church on Sunday. My wife reminded me that God should always come first. 1. I had scouted the area all summer. 2. I searched the best location for my tree-stand. 3. I set it all up a month ahead of time. 4. I trailed the herd, and I picked out my trophy buck. 5. Two days before opening day, I rechecked every aspect of the hunt. 6. Everything was in place. 7. Sunday morning, I woke up at 2 a.m. 8. I put on my camo, loaded my pack, set out for my stand. 9. This was destined to be my epic hunt. 10. As I approached my deer stand, there sat the biggest black bear you ever did see. 11. Guess who was sitting beside my wife at Mass? Among others, they range from lectors and Eucharistic Ministers who are active in the liturgy of the Mass, to the Maintenance Committee and Green Thumb Club, that help keep the Parish looking beautiful and in good working order, to our Youth Group and Women s Club, which provide fellowship and a helping hand to others. It helps to become involved with others who have experienced something similar. Sharing eases loneliness and allows an expression of grief in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding. Grief is a testament to the person who has left us. Love does not end, so we feel the loss for years to come. Coffee & Comfort is a place to share stories, to confide in others who truly understand, and to discover hope and healing. We meet on the first Monday of every month. The Quigley Scholars Program For High Schoolers Who Want to Learn More about Becoming a Priest Quigley Scholars come to St. Joseph College Seminary for a session once a month from September through April. We pray together, attend Mass, have dinner and attend a faith sharing session with the college seminarians focused on considering the priesthood. The program is open to all teens in Catholic and public high schools as well as homeschoolers. Scholarships Are Available Scholars who attend Catholic high schools may also apply for an annual $2,500 scholarship to help offset the cost of high school tuition.
