4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Thanks for all the wonderful and blessed memories... I have to begin with a heartfelt thank you to all of you for wonderful gifts and remembrances. My heart is so full and so thankful for all of you and all that you do. I received an angel named Soar, and I hope to do just that! I will carry all of you in my heart, and I will pop in from time to time to see how you are doing. Please keep me in your prayers, as I pray for our parish and all of you daily. More commonly, John is known as the precursor of our Lord Jesus Christ. All the Gospels report John s basic message: Repent, the kingdom is near at hand. One greater than I is coming. Though he was a wandering preacher who dressed in camel skins and ate grasshoppers, John s legacy is one of true royalty. His origins are similar to those foretold by God through the prophet Isaiah: You are my servant, he said to me, Israel through whom I show my glory (Isaiah 49:3). Just remember that individual envelopes still need to be turned in physically before the weekly drawings if you intend to participate. Safe travels to all of our parishioners and loved ones this summer, and please don t forget about us! We rely greatly on your support and often have difficulty making ends meet when summer Mass attendance declines. ~ Help Wanted ~ No Experience Required Our Resurrection Choir is in need of new members to help provide prayerful and reflective music to give solace to those mourning their loved ones at funerals. Most funerals take place at 10:00 a.m., Monday-Saturday. Call the Parish Office to have your name added to our phone list, and you will receive a call when a funeral is scheduled. 6 sas Welcome to new faculty members Greetings from St. Ann School, where we are still hard at work all summer long! We have some exciting introductions to make this week as we can now announce the new additions to our faculty for the school year. In their own words: Hi, my name is Colleen McGovern and I teach preschool! I graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have an English as a Second Language endorsement along with a Special Education Letter of Approval. I love teaching because I love watching the students learn and grow so quickly. When I m not teaching, I like spending time with friends and family, walking my dog, and doing anything athletic! Hello, I m Rebecca MacFarlane, and I will be teaching 4th Grade at St. Ann. I attended the University of Missouri - Columbia for a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an Art History minor. Then I went to Miami University (Oxford, OH) for a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Biological Sciences. I love teaching because I absolutely love learning! I am thrilled to work in an environment where I can share my love of learning while helping to prepare the next generation for life in our complicated and rapidly-changing world. I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the Catholic school community as an educator, and I strive to make a positive difference in the life of each and every child I encounter. When I m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, writing, gardening, cooking, discovering new trails to hike, and visiting museums. Becoming an Altar Server is not only an honor but an important part in the offering of the Mass. You will be assisting the priest in the celebration of the Eucharist, which is the cornerstone of your faith. If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, please discuss it first with your parent(s) or guardian(s), as you will be making a serious commitment. It is no different than being on the basketball team, or any other hobby or activity that you participate in. You will be able to indicate your preferred Mass time and any dates that you are unavailable. If you decide you would like to become an Altar Server, please fill out the attached form and drop it off at the Parish Office or in the Collection Basket at Church.
