4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is March 5, 2017 and the First Sunday of Lent. The Responsorial Psalm is, Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned. (Psalm 51:3-4, 5-6,12-13, 17 (3a) Have you ever heard about the Bucket Fillosophy 101? It is a tool teachers and catechists use with children to keep their buckets filled with positive items. We live in a society that is quick to judge, and we all need to look beyond the surface and see into the core of people. When we learn to look deeper, we develop understanding, empathy, and compassion and we become happier people. Just like a good book, poem, or song, you need to listen to the lyrics and pick out the important parts. So too with your bucket, you need to add ideas and ways to continue to improve yourself, and in doing so, you begin to see others in a new and better light. There was a famous saying, You don't really know a person till you walk in their moccasins. We need to learn to look beyond appearances and try and understand where someone is coming from. Are they hurting? Are there issues in their life? Take time to reflect and think about others in your life, your community, and your church and pray for one another. Here are some ideas to get you started, A to Z. Ask if you can help. Be a bucket filler. Cheer up a friend. Donate to a special group. Explore ways to look at yourself. Friends are your guardian angels. Give of your time. Heroes look out for others. Invite someone to join the fun. Joyfully give a hug. Kindness brightens your day. Listen when people talk. Make a bucketfilling card. Notice helpful things. Offer to help. Pray daily. Quit any bucket dipping (negativity). Respect everyone. Smile and see what happens. Tell your family that you love them. Use kind words. Volunteer to do some good works. Watch out for one another. EXtra special is a friend. You do your best. Zero you and God can't work out together. Be sure and set your clocks forward one hour, as Daylight Savings Time begins next week. Yippee... More sun and fun. Get out and walk, run or just sit in the sun and soak it up. It helps to become involved with others who have experienced something similar. Sharing eases loneliness and allows an expression of grief in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding. Grief is a testament to the person who has left us. Love does not end, so we feel the loss for years to come. Coffee & Comfort is a place to share stories, to confide in others who truly understand, and to discover hope and healing. We meet on the first Monday of every month. The doors will open at 11:45. A list of alternate sites that do take reservations will be available. If not on Social Security, you must show proof of health insurance. You must also bring last year s tax return and a social security card for each person on the tax return. Also, bring a copy of a check if you would like a refund automatically deposited or a balance due withdrawn from your account. This service is sponsored by the AARP Foundation and is the largest free, volunteer-run tax service for seniors with middle or low income. Volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS. Please do not call the Youth Center. No one is there to answer questions about taxes. Among others, they range from lectors and Eucharistic Ministers who are active in the liturgy of the Mass, to the Maintenance Committee and Green Thumb Club, that help keep the Parish looking beautiful and in good working order, to our Youth Group and Women s Club, which provide fellowship and a helping hand to others.
