During the week, we will say the Rosary after the 7:45 a.m. morning Mass. Join us as we pray to the Blessed Mother and meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary.

4 Many Blessings... Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. 1 Chronicles 16:11 A friend of mine recently told me her future daughter-inlaw asked her how to pray. Her son s fiancé is attending RCIA at her church and thus has learned much about the Catholic faith, but she is still perplexed about praying outside the confines of an established prayer. Recently there was this intercession at Mass: For those among us who struggle with how to pray, that the Spirit will intercede for them and show them the way to God. Even those who have been saying prayers for many years may still not know how to communicate with God though personal prayer. My friend and I talked about how personal prayer is simply talking to God. You speak from your heart and can ask the Holy Spirit to guide you if you find it difficult to begin. Just remember, praying is a way to tell God about you. It s a way to form a better relationship with Him. Jeremiah 29:12 tells us, then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. God wants to hear from us. Even though He knows and sees all things, communicating with Him acknowledges that we want Him in our lives, we want this relationship because we care enough to talk with Him. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18 So when do we pray? According to James 5:1,5, Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. I personally find praying keeps me calm when the world can be chaotic. Keep calm and pray on! Singing is praying, saying the Our Father at Mass is praying, and talking to God in our own words is praying. Praying is not just asking God for something, but it s also thanking God, and sharing ourselves. Sometimes God honors our requests and sometimes He does, but not in the way we expect. So have faith in Him, He will deliver. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord s people. Ephesians 6:18. This program by Dr. Edward Sri takes participants on an exciting tour of the Liturgy as it explores the biblical roots of the words and gestures we experience at Mass and explains their profound significance. 6 sas 8th grade,-- --/Mrs. Johnson 8th Grade has had a busy first month of school! The 8th grade day school and religious education students all attended a retreat at St. Rita High School on Tuesday, September 12 with teachers Mrs. Debbie Johnson and Mrs. Barb Antoskiewicz. Fr. Tom McCarthy who has run several popular retreats here at St. Ann s was the moderator. The goal of the retreat was to involve the students in sharing ideas about their faith and other scenarios with the people in their groups. About 10 other schools were in attendance and interacted with our St. Ann students. In honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, we will hold a Pet Blessing on Sunday, October 1, immediately following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. All creatures great & small are invited. After Masses TODAY! Members of our St. Ann Pack 247 will have cash and carry popcorn for sale in the Narthex. Over 70% of what they sell goes to local Scouting. Benefit for Parishioner Roger Tyderek On Friday, September 15, St. Ann School 8th grade students attended a team-building retreat at Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center in Olympia Fields. What a beautiful day! The class got to work together in groups to achieve a common goal. Many of the students learned things about their classmates they never knew, and a good time was had by all. In the classroom and the community, we continue to work toward Confirmation, which will take place in May. Our Confirmation candidates are always looking for ways to earn service hours, so if you know of any good projects, please let us know! Thank you! 6 Sunday, October 8, 1:00-5:00 p.m. Kacey s Restaurant, Lorenz Roger has a condition called keratoconus that has affected both of his eyes. While receiving treatment, Roger learned that he also has Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, which has metastasized from his lymph nodes to other areas of his body. All proceeds from the Spaghetti Dinner will go toward helping the Tyderek family, who have served St. Ann Parish for many years as lectors, cantor, altar servers, Eucharistic Ministers, and Religious Education instructor. The menu will include spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic toast, and salad. Tickets are $8 in advance (available at the Kacey s office or bartender), $10 at the door, and $5 for children 6 and under.
