Life is a big bouquet of flowers, a beautiful tree, birds in the air and interesting and unusual people. I love to listen to people who have accents and who live fruitful and charming lives. Do you ever wonder if you had not been put in this time and space, where and who would you be? God chose you to be in this time and place for a reason. There is a woman who turned 102 years old at the nursing home, and we asked what her secret for a good long life was. Her reply: I am a 21-year-old in this old 102-year-old costume. Isn't that the sweetest thing you have heard in a while? It is truly a blessing to know her and share in her story. I am in the process of trying to write a book. The title will be The Person Next to You. Remember the saying, you never know the person until you walk in their moccasins. What might it be like to walk in the time of Jesus? We are called to follow Christ as missionary disciples by seeking the truth, serving others, and living our faith in all that we do. Join others each day from June 21 - July 4 to pray, reflect, and take action on religious liberty, both here in this country and abroad. This is the sixth year the Parish of St. Joseph (17951 Dixie Highway, Homewood) will be celebrating the Fortnight with a nightly prayer vigil in church at 7:00 p.m., repeating each evening until July 4. All parishioners, friends, family, surrounding parishes and the community are invited to attend.
