4 Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is the Third Sunday of Lent, and the Responsorial Psalm is, The Lord is kind and merciful. (Psalm 103:1-2,3-4, 6-7, 8,11) The Gospel of St. Luke 13:1-9 tells the Parable of the Fig Tree. APHORISMS (Wise or Clever Observations or a General Truth) 1. 6 February 28, 2016 Dear St. Ann Parish Family, Our Chelcie is a Published Author Congratulations to seventh grader Chelsie Oparanozie who recently published her first book, Reptiles vs. Amphibians. The book tells the story of Geck, Pyro, Camilia, and Thorn (four Reptiles) who join together to defeat the evil Amphibians. Her book is available on Amazon.com; she is currently working on her second book. Write on, Chelcie! St. Ann School Wins Roundball Food Drive All of Lansing s schools recently participated in a nonperishable food collection drive to benefit our neighbor, the Lansing Food Pantry. A traveling trophy was presented to St. Ann School for winning this year s competition in gathering the most items per student. This is St. Ann s second consecutive win, so the trophy is coming back home. We submitted 923 items. We had our own internal competition among classrooms with first grade taking the top prize: an outdoor ice cream social with Fr. Bill this spring. First grade brought in 221 items! Of course the real winner is the Lansing Food Pantry. Preparing for The Ball in the Hall Each homeroom completed an auction piece for the upcoming Ball in the Hall all-parish benefit. Take a peek at 5 th grade s piece up for bidding; what a beautiful planter stand. We thank our room parents for assisting us with the production process. I look forward to seeing you next Saturday at the Ball in the Hall friend-raiser. Thank you, Fourth Grade We thank our fourth graders for presenting today s 10:30 a.m. Family Mass. Shadow a Student We invite all prospective students to shadow at St. Ann School for a day. Shadowing involves attending classes with our current students, the ability to meet with our teachers, and an opportunity to check things out. It s kind of like taking a test drive.
