2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday 4:30pm Sunday 7:00am & 10:00am Tuesday at 6:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am *When there is a funeral, there is no weekday morning scheduled Mass. Confession First Friday 6:45-7:10am Saturday 3:30-4:10pm *On Saturday when there is a wedding, there will be no confessions. Anointing of the Sick: If facing surgery, dealing with a chronic illness, serious accident or nearing the end of life, notify the parish office if you would like Fr. Erbacher to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms will take place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with Fr. Erbacher or Deacon John. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to their wedding date. 3 Thank you to everyone who attended the Holy Day Masses on August 14 and August 15 for The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was great to see such a good crowd at all three Masses. The Parish Yard Sale raised over $2,700 for the building of our new church. This would not have been possible without all the great donors from our parish. There was something for everyone! A big Thank You goes out to all the people who gave of their time to price, clean, organize, set up and tear down all the tables, racks and shelving that were used. Without all the volunteer help we had, this would not have been possible. Thank you to all involved! As of August 20, we have raised over $3,500 with our aluminum can drive. Thank you to all who take the time to drop off their cans, please continue to do this. Money raised through this fundraiser will go to purchase a new stain glass window for church. Divine Providence Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel Hours that are currently open: 4th Sunday of the Month at 9:00am-10:00am 4th Monday of the Month at 12:00am-1:00am Mondays at 4:00am-5:00am The Adoration Chapel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is located in the Parish Center on the campus of Precious Blood Parish. St. John Bosco Youth Ministry St. John Bosco Catholic Youth Ministry reaches out to youth in grades 6 through 12 from St. Mary, Holy Family, Precious Blood, and St. Joseph. Does it matter which knee you go down on? According to the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, "A genuflection, made by bending the right knee to the ground, signifies adoration, and therefore it is reserved for the Most Blessed Sacrament. By genuflecting we are acknowledging the presence of Jesus Christ in the tabernacle. It is tradition to use the right knee, just as you make the sign of the cross with your right hand. Either knee is acceptable, what matters most is the intention of your action. Do you genuflect when you go into a church that is not Catholic? Catholics genuflect to honor the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle. Protestants generally do not have the Blessed Sacrament present in the church so there would be no need to genuflect. New choir members are welcome. Wednesday [08/29]: Rosary at 11:30am in church. All are welcome. Quilting noon to 4:00pm in the rectory basement. St. Anne s Sewing 6:00pm in the rectory basement. Thursday [08/30]: Friday [08/31]: Saturday [09/01]: Private Confessions 3:30-4:10pm. Mass will be celebrated at 4:30pm. Sunday [09/02]: Mass will be celebrated at 7:00am and 10:00am. Sunday School.We would like to start Sunday School after picnic. It is held in the Library of the Social Hall during the 10:00am Mass. We are needing volunteers to help with this program. August 19, $100 Irish Sweepstakes Raffle Winner is Clay Rinderknecht Brute Society Nominations St Mary Parish is looking for nominations of parishioners to receive the Brute Award from this parish. Because of our size, we can have up to 3 individuals/couples win this award. Criteria for section should include: 1. A lifestyle that is in harmony with the teachings of the Catholic faith. 2. An exceptional commitment to the principles of good stewardship. This is usually shown over a period of time through selfless giving of time, talent, and/or treasure to the life and work of a parish. 3. An individual or couple whom fellow parishioners would be proud to have represent their parish by being accepted as members of The Brute Society. your nominations to Fr. Erbacher (jerbacher@evdio.org) or drop off at the parish office. Nominations are due by August 27 and will be voted on at the August Parish Council meeting on August 28. Upcoming Parish Events September 9: St. Mary Church Picnic. Mass times for picnic weekend will be Saturday at 4:30pm and Sunday at 8:00am. There will be no 7:00am or 10:00am Mass on picnic Sunday. September 10: K of C Rosary at 7:00pm, Meeting and First 20/20 at 8:00pm. October 4: St. Anne Meeting - Game Night October 21: Ireland K of C Fall BBQ. Serving starts at 9:00am. Church Picnic - September 9 On picnic day, our picnic will begin at 10:30am. Mass time for picnic weekend will be Saturday at 4:30pm and Sunday at 8:00am. After the 8:00am Mass, all cars must be moved from the parking lot. This lot will be for handicap parking only. We have golf carts and people movers lined up to transport workers and guests from various parking areas. Thanks for understanding...we will all have to work together to make this work. Help us advertise by taking yard signs (on parish office porch) and picnic flyers (found in the back of church). Free advertising is always helpful. Picnic Tickets can be found in the back of church. Pick up your envelope - help us get these distributed. St. Anne s Cooler tickets are 6 for $5. This was left off the ticket - sorry. Remember the Country Store when making your jellies and relishes this summer. Small jars of homemade items sell really well at the picnic. We will store in the parish office if you want. Watch for summer closeouts on toys and other items that can be used in the Surprise Bag Stand. Check out the close out/ clearance aisles when you are shopping. Time to start thinking about our Theme Basket Stand. Start getting ideas to put together for your basket(s). If you own a business and are not on our grand raffle ticket, great way to include some of your items in a basket. Please have the value of your basket at $50+.
