Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to setting a date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. Homebound Parishioners: Communion calls are made on Monday mornings to parishioners homes. Call the parish office if you would like a visit from our Eucharistic Minister. 3 Dear St. Mary Parish, Since I was appointed as Pastor; the Long Term Planning committee has worked to address the ongoing needs of our Parish, while investigating the current state of St. Mary Church. Looking toward the future and allowing room to grow we presented to the Parish during the Town Hall Meetings, we presented architectural plans that include an unfinished basement and a seating capacity of 779 in the sanctuary and nave. Today the church s capacity is 385. Currently the project is at $6.1 million. We presented this to the Parish in two Town Hall Meetings. Letters were sent to all registered family households. Bulletin and Mass announcements invited the parishioners. We provided handouts of all the material we presented. In the end to achieve consensus, I listened to all in attendance individually. Both meetings were video-taped for historical record. Clearly the parish is in consensus to build. Many appreciated the time and effort the Committee spent to educate and present the situation. The next stage is a financial feasibility study. I requested the Bishop s approval to select a Fundraising and Stewardship firm to make an assessment of our ability to achieve the mentioned goal of $6.1 million. This check and balance is one way that the Diocese is working with and protecting the parishes at the local level. The approval was granted. During the past month, the Long Term Planning Committee selected firms to interview. We will hold a series of interviews and then select a firm. Then the financial feasibility study will be completed. I will communicate the results to you. I ask for your prayers for the Long Term Committee, Fr. Jeff and I as we go through this process. May the Holy Spirit guide us to do the Lord s will, through the selection. In Christ, Fr. Gary St. Mary Preschool This past week was Dr. Seuss Day! We put all of our Dr. Seuss books on display for our little ones to explore. It was wonderful to see how familiar they already were with Dr. Seuss. We had fun reading and rhyming with each Dr. Seuss book! We also learned letter Tt and the number 8 this week. We talked a lot about transportation. Each class made a train craft! Year 1 students made a number train by putting numbers 1-8 in order. Our Year 2 students made a name train. They wrote the letters of their name on a square and also had to put them in order. Our Friday class even had some fun playing Red Light, Green Light using many different kinds of transportation. It really was a terrific week!! We are happy to host Splendor of Truth Ministries founder Dr. Nicholas Lebish for a biblical, spiritual, and practical study of this threefold path to holiness on Friday, March 20, from 7:00-8:30pm at Precious Blood Church (Endress Hall). Double Edged Sword: St. Jerome famously said, Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. We are happy to host Dr. Nicholas Lebish to learn how to get more out of reading Scripture our doubled edged sword, (Heb 4:12)! Join us for this single session study on Saturday, March 21 from 9:00-10:30am in the St. Mary Community Center Cafeteria. Friday [03/13]: Mass will be celebrate at 7:30am. St. Mary Fish Fry beginning at 4:00pm until sold out. $9 per plate - Fish, german fries, and slaw. Dine in, drive thru or carry out. April 25 & 26: First Communion June 13, 14 & 15: TEC June 22-26: Vacation Bible School July 25, 26 & 27: TEC September 13: St. Mary Church Picnic Bosco Wednesdays the Bosco House is open after school until 5:00pm for dropping in (high school). Join us Wednesday nights for Bible Storying at the Bosco House after Religious Ed from 8:30-9:30pm each week (high school). Come check out this imaginative way of reflecting on Scripture. The next Bosco Mixer is Friday, March 13, from 6:30-8:30pm at Precious Blood. We will meet in the church, then head to the gym. This is for all middle schoolers and is put on by the high schoolers. Come for games, snacks, music and to learn something new about your faith. Spots for Work Camp, One Bread One Cup and NCYC are still open. Reserving your spot for any of these trips requires a $100 deposit made out to St. John Bosco. Don t let cost keep you from registering for a trip. Turtle Soup Sale - Holy Family s Boy Scout Troop #185 is having their annual turtle soup sale March 13, 14 & 15 at the scout shed located behind Holy Family Church. Soup is $15 per gallon.
