2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday 4:30pm Sunday 7:00am and 10:00am Holy Day of Obligation - Tuesday at 7:30am & 6:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am *There will be no morning Mass on funeral mornings. Sacrament of Reconciliation at St. Mary Church First Friday 7:00-7:25am Saturday 3:30-4:10pm *On Saturday when there is a wedding, there will be no confessions. Anointing of the Sick: Notify the parish office if there is a need for Fr Erbacher to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms will take place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with Fr. Erbacher or Deacon John. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to setting a date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. Homebound Parishioners: Communion calls are made on Monday mornings to parishioners homes. Call the parish office if you would like a visit from our Eucharistic Minister. Gift Bearers: If you would like to carry up the gifts at offertory, please let the ushers know. 3 St Mary Church Picnic - September 10 St. Mary Quilt Show will be Thursday, August 24, noon to 6:00pm. Tell your family and friends. If you have a group quilt at home, please bring it to the parish office so we can get ready for the quilt show. Group quilt money can be sent in at any time. A $35 donation is all it takes - no quilting required. Picnic Flyers can be found in the back of church. Please pick some up and distribute throughout the area. Extra advertising is always appreciated. We will also post this on Facebook. Sharing and liking will help get the word out. Grab Bags - Start looking for summer bargains - you can drop these items off at the parish office. Check out Walgreens, Dollar Stor and CVS summer clearance sales. Country Store - We have room in our freezers for fruit for the goodies that are made for the country store or make your jelly and we will store that until picnic time. Look for bargains on sugar, flour, nuts and throw away pans. We will be glad to store these items too. When making your summer time relish, make a couple extra for picnic Theme Baskets - Start thinking about your theme baskets. Some ideas: car care, movie baskets, gift cards basket, cooking basket, game baskets, homemade jelly and jam basket, etc. We have had so many great baskets in the past, drop your basket off at the parish office before picnic day. Volunteers - If you are available to work an additional shift, there are some stands that could possibly use extra help. Great way to get to know parishioners! Stand Chairmen - Please check with your workers and update your list. If you need more help, contact the parish office. It has also been recommended that we use name tags for our workers. If your stand would like name tags, let the office know. St. John Bosco Catholic Youth Ministry reaches out to youth in grades six through twelve from Holy Family Parish, Precious Blood Parish, St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary Parish. We invite young people to receive Jesus Christ s love and mercy through experiences, relationships, and prayer. We challenge young people to grow in personal relationships with Jesus Christ and one another as we encounter the life and mission of our Catholic faith community and become disciples of Jesus Christ to share the good news with our world. High School Youth Nights will be Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30pm at the Bosco House (when the school years begins). Wednesday Faith Minute video clip on Instagram and Facebook to offer encouragement and inspiration on the go. August 13: Teen Mass and pizza at Precious Blood at 6:00pm. All are welcome. August 24: Adult Leadership for Bosco meeting at Jasper Engines Training Facility. All current and possible new volunteers are welcome. The more help we have the better our ministry is and the more we get to offer our young people. September 13: Bosco Youth Ministry begins 8:30-9:30pm. Yard signs are available on the parish office porch. Please help us advertise our picnic by displaying them in your yard or at your business. We are in need of 2 or 3 golf carts on picnic day to help shuttle people from their parking spaces. Call the office if you have one we can use. Care Notes from Abbey Press - Check out these resources available in the back of church in the Care Note holder. These pamphlets address issues we deal with in our every day lives: illness, death, depression, family relationships, youth and self esteem to name a few. Gather insights about constructive ways to bring healing into your lives and the lives of others. Compliments of your parish. The Ireland Volunteer Fireman Open House and Raffle will be Sunday, August 13. BBQ chicken and pork chop dinners will be available beginning at 9:30am until sold out. Please support our local department and the volunteers by picking up a dinner next Sunday and dropping off your raffle tickets. Your support is greatly appreciated. 4 This Week s Parish Events Sunday [08/13]: Sisters of Charity of Nazareth will be here to speak at all the Masses on behalf of their ministries. The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth through their ministries of healthcare, education and social service carry the message of Christ s love for those in need throughout the world. A special collection will be taken up to support the Sisters. There will be no second collection in August for the Community Food Bank. Christian Mothers Prayers after Mass. All are welcome to stay and pray. Ireland Volunteer Firefighters BBQ, raffle and open house. BBQ chicken and pork chop dinners 9:30am to sold out. Drawing at noon. Please support our local department and volunteers. Teen Mass at Precious Blood at 6:00pm. Fr Erbacher will be the celebrant. Pizza following Mass. Monday [08/14]: The Crave Bible Study Group will be gathering for a meal together followed by the cd of Matthew Kelly s Best Version of Yourself. The evening will include great food, inspiring conversations and good fellowship. We will be meeting in the cafeteria at 6:15pm. All are welcome! Come join us! Ireland Elementary kids will begin classes on Tuesday, August 15th and Middle School/High School classes will begin Wednesday, September 13th. More Catechists are always needed and welcomed to join our team. We have a great number of youth that attend our program. If you are interested, please contact Martha at mjschmitt@evdio.org or call , ext 45. It is very rewarding to be able to pass on the Catholic faith to our youth. Lessons plans are ready for you and very easy to follow. If you feel you are not qualified, just know that God does not always call the equipped - He equips the called Brute Society Nominations St Mary Parish is looking for nominations of parishioners to receive the Brute Award from this parish. Because of our size, we can have 3 individuals/couples win this award. Criteria for section should include: 1. A lifestyle that is in harmony with the teachings of the Catholic faith. 2. An exceptional commitment to the principles of good stewardship. This is usually shown over a period of time through selfless giving of time, talent, and/or treasure to the life and work of a parish. 3. An individual or couple whom fellow parishioners would be proud to have represent their parish by being accepted as members of The Brue Society. Please send or your nominations to Fr. Erbacher or drop it off at the parish office. Nominations are due by August 14 and will be voted on at the August parish council meeting.
