2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday 4:30pm Sunday 7:00am & 10:00am Tuesday at 6:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am *When there is a funeral, there is no weekday morning scheduled Mass. Confessions First Friday 6:45-7:10am Saturday 3:30-4:10pm or by appointment at any time. *On Saturday when there is a wedding, there will be no confessions. Anointing of the Sick: If facing surgery, dealing with a chronic illness, serious accident or nearing the end of life, notify the parish office if you would like Fr. Erbacher to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms will take place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with Fr. Erbacher or Deacon John. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office no later than six months prior to their wedding date. Another way to make sure your tithing is coming to St. Mary is to go electronic. This can be by electronic check payment from your bank or by ACH through the parish office. This is an easy way to make your donations on a recurring basis and not have to worry about your tithing envelopes. 3 Advent Day-of-Recollection Advent begins Sunday, December 2. On Thursday, December 6, St. Mary will have an Advent Day-of- Recollection. We want to invite all parishioners to Mass, food, fellowship and Benediction. Mass will be at 8:00am, followed by breakfast. Lunch will be provided with Benediction at 2:00pm. A schedule of the day will follow soon. Mark your calendar and bring your friends! Building For Our Future St Mary Dressing/Bake Sale Fundraiser will be November 20. Pre-order your dressing by calling $15 per gallon/ $8 per half gallon. Get your dressing and baked goods in time for Thanksgiving. Drop off your aluminum cans on the trailer in the parking lot. Money raised from the cans will go to buy a new stained glass window for the church. Aluminum cans only - aluminum foil and pie pans are not accepted. Divine Providence Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel Hours that are currently open: 1st & 3rd Sunday of Month at 1:00-2:00pm 4th Monday of Month at 12:00-1:00am 3rd Monday of Month at 3:00-4:00am 2nd & 4th Tuesday of Month at 1:00-2:00am 3rd Wednesday of Month at 1:00-2:00am 2nd Saturday of Month at 11:00pm-12:00am 5th Saturday of Month at 4:00-5:00am Mondays at 1:00-2:00pm If there are two times listed for an adoration time, example 1st & 3rd Sundays, and you only want to do one time per month, that would help out a lot. St. John Bosco Youth Ministry St. John Bosco Catholic Youth Ministry reaches out to youth in grades 6 through 12 from St. Mary, Holy Family, Precious Blood, and St. Joseph. The Induction Ceremony will be held on November 4 at Good Shepherd Church, Evansville, at 3:00pm EST. So, how do you explain how Halloween ties into All Saints Day to kids? Hallow is a word that means Holy. We even say it in the Our Father - hallowed be thy name. We celebrate All Saints Day on November 1st. This day can also be called All Hallows Day because it s the day about all the Holy peoplethe Saints. The day before All Saints Day is called All Hallows Eve, just like the day before Christmas is called Christmas Eve. Over time, people just started saying Halloween instead of All Hallows Eve. During the Middle Ages in England, on the night before All Saints Day, or Halloween, peasants and children called "soulers" would go about town singing and praying for the souls of the dead. They would stop at homes and beg for a "soul cake" and promise in return to pray for the household's deceased family members to be released from purgatory. If homeowners did not give out cakes it was believed their home would be cursed. And this friends is thought to be the origination of trick or treating. After the 10:00am Mass, there will be a rosary and procession to the cemetery, weather permitting. After the rosary, Fr. St. Vincent de Paul Society - Interested in helping others? Looking to get involved with St. Mary Parish, but not sure where to go? Want to feel good knowing you are doing good? The St. Vincent de Paul Conference of St. Mary Parish is always welcoming new members to join us in helping those in need. We meet 1-2 times per month, about an hour each time. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul lead men and women to join together to grow spiritually by offering assistance following an application process based on need. We provide goods, services and monetary donations provided by the St. Vincent de Paul Store. This was a wonderful community event. TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) will be here at St. Mary on Nov 10, 11 and 12. This weekend can make such a difference in the life of a young person. Adult candidates (typically those aged 23 and older) can also participate. You will meet youth and other adults from areas all around the Diocese and find out how God fits in your life.
